When they reached the deactivated electric fence, Craig used his bolt cutters to cut through the stainless steel mesh. Luckily, there were no other robots or drones nearby. They entered the camp from the front and destroyed all the loudspeakers mounted atop the alarm poles. With the sirens silenced, the dull silence returned to the streets.
The first Settler Camp was exactly how Kevin had described it. All the two-story buildings had security cameras installed above their main doors and floodlights fitted to their roofs. Shane couldn't even imagine how people could live under such scrutiny. It was like living inside a nightmare.
The Settler Camps were inhumane residential areas where people were forced to live like pigs. They had limited privacy, little in the way of choice, and no means of escape.
