All this time, Kevin and his teammates were focused completely on the Raiders, but now they realized that they had plenty of other things to worry about. Whatever had chewed on those animal bones could still be lurking in the nearby bushes or treetops.
Since Kevin was the only one with thermal vision, he had the responsibility of alerting his teammates of any hostiles in the area. However, his thermal sensors didn't have a very wide detection range. This meant that he could only pick up heat signatures of creatures within two hundred feet of him.
"It's definitely gotta be the work of those wolves, right?" Alan asked as if to reassure himself, but Mira didn't give him the answer he was hoping for.
"I don't think it was the work of wolves," Mira responded, picking up a crushed skull from the ground. "The animal punctured this skull with ease. Wolves, even feral ones, don't have such bite force. It has to be something else."
