Six red eyes stared at Kelly from the darkness. The spider was standing absolutely still, but its mouth was constantly emitting a shrill clicking noise. Having been shocked twice, it was wary of Kelly and didn't want to go near her again. However, there were plenty of other options in the spider's arsenal.
Kelly didn't wait to find out what the spider would do. Adjusting the tension on her crossbow, she fired an armor-piercing narrowhead straight at its head. The bolt would have pierced the spider's skull with ease, but the spider deflected it by lifting up its front legs.
Though the spider's head and abdomen were soft enough to be penetrated with crossbow bolts, its legs were as hard as rocks.
Before Kelly could load another bolt into her crossbow, the spider skittered across the floor, charging straight at her. Kelly rolled out of the way just in the nick of time, causing the monstrosity to ram into the wall behind her.
