Damien grinned at Beatrix, grateful for her support. "Thanks, Bea. I'll do my best to heal up as quickly as possible so we can be together as soon as possible."
Remo rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. "Whatever. But you better hope the disfigurement doesn't scare my sister too much."
Damien's grin faded and he looked down at his hands. He knew he wasn't the same person he was before the explosion, but he hoped that Beatrix could see past the scars and love him for who he was on the inside.
"I understand your concerns, Remo," Damien said quietly. "But I promise to do everything I can to make your sister happy. She means the world to me."
Remo sighed and uncrossed his arms. "Fine. I'll help you find a place to stay. But if you hurt my sister, I'll make sure you pay for it."
"I won't hurt her, I promise," Damien said earnestly.
