Beatrix opened her mouth to speak but it remained soundless with no words coming out. She shook her head in reply.
She felt him cupping her face in his large hands as she tried to gasp for air.
"Hey, open your eyes. Look at me." He whispered softly.
Beatrix slowly opened her eyes and peered into his eyes looking for comfort.
"It's okay, I'm right here. There is nothing to be afraid of."
Beatrix grabbed his forearms as the plane ascended into the sky. She tried to look out the window, but Damien held her face firmly in place and stroked her cheeks with his thumbs, keeping her from doing so.
Her heart slammed in her chest when there was a sudden change in pressure and she gripped Damien's hand even tighter as he took hold of one of the armrests in order to steady himself.
Suddenly, the jet came to a halting stop before the engines repowered, roaring against the wind.Within a couple of seconds, the flight accelerated to
full speed, treading through the wind before slowly lifting off the ground.
And all the while, Damien's eyes remained on
her until she finally calmed down her beating heart.
She blinked as something strange began emerging in her chest, an erratic flutter that had nothing to do with the fact that they were now in the sky.
Beatrix breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly, she realised how tightly she had been holding on to him.
She relinquished her grip on his arms and he did the same with her face.
"Better?" he asked, concern etched in his voice.
Beatrix turned to look at him.Her gaze met his and she found herself captivated by his piercing eyes.
Her heart slammed in her chest and she found herself drowning in his eyes. His gaze fell on her lips and she swallowed nervously, taking the lower bottom of her lips in her mouth.
She quickly composed herself and made sure the blush that had risen on her cheekbones faded away just as fast it had appeared.
"Y-yes thank you." She responded.
The quickened rising and falling of her chest showed just how nervous with how close he was.
Damien leaned closer and for a second Beatrix thought that his lips would fall on hers as she could almost feel them so intimately close, but he quickly moved towards her ear.
"Do I make you nervous? Because you look extremely flushed and your cheeks are now a beautiful shade of red. I know it's not out of your fear for the takeoff, so do you mind telling me what is causing your breathing to be exhilarating right now."
He whispered into her ear as she felt an unfamiliar sensation in her womb.
Beatrix averted her gaze. She didn't know how to answer him as she didn't know why she was so flushed herself.
Beatrix bit her lip as she looked out the small window watching the clouds trying to calm down her raging heart.
"Are you trying to seduce me?"
Damien asked, amusement laced in his tone.
Beatrix turned to look at him in confusion. Why was he asking that?
He grinned. Beatrix met his gaze and she didn't miss the hunger swirling in his eyes.
Even though she hadn't gotten over Rhys, they didn't spend much time together to make her madly in love with him. He will always be that special boy who took her first kiss and made her the happiest.
But Damien was different. He didn't let butterflies swarm in her stomach rather he let her stomach swirl with an unfamiliar sensation. Beatrix didn't know what it was, but whatever it was, the most disturbing part was that he had an effect on her and she didn't like it.
"Beatrix, you still haven't answered my question." Her name slipped off his tongue in the most mesmerizing way.
Beatrix dropped her eyes down onto her lap, not wanting to look into his beautiful dark ones.
Damien grabbed her chin, lifting her head up.
His gaze dropped to her plump lips that were coated in their vanilla balm before looking back up to her green eyes
He lifted up his hand to touch the softness of her plump lips. The pad of his thumb. pulled out her bottom lip that was swollen from being in her mouth. He stroked his thumb over her bottom lip before traveling to her upper one.
Beatrix swallowed the lump in her throat.
"N-no." She replied slowly.
"Well, then don't do that again, I don't think I can control myself unless you want me to-"
Beatrix shook her head, interrupting him. Damien chuckled and his smirk held for a few seconds as his eyes narrowed at her, before it broke into a full, rakish grin. An unfamiliar tingle rode up her spine.
He pulled back and sat down in his chair.
Beatrix flushed and picked the magazine on the table to hide away from this tempting man.
She could feel his gaze occasionally on her making her uncomfortable.
Beatrix sneaked a peak from the magazine and met his gaze. She blushed and quickly looked back in the magazine.
Damien chuckled before he took his phone out of his pocket. He furrowed his brows for a while before he spoke.
"I'm going to make some calls in one of the cabins. Come find me if you need anything. If you're hungry, let them serve you something.
Beatrix lowered her magazine and nodded.
She breathed a sigh of relief when Damien left. She didn't know why his presence affected her so much.
She knew nothing about her soon to be husband but one thing she knew for sure was that she was in for a hell of a ride. She hoped she could protect her fragile heart at the end.
Men like Damien Niarchos and her father didn't give you a happy ending that she knew for sure.
