Chapter 28 - Paladin Throne

The two took me away, leaving The Eastern Warrior's building, leading me like a prisoner. The white-armored man who kept urging me, I could see his face, white hair like with blue eyes like mine.

I was carried across the guild downstairs under the same circumstances. People looked at me suspiciously; some of them were green censors that I shouldn't care about, but among them were orange censors.

"You're going too far, Paladin," accused the white-armored man who continued to lead me.

"You are the ones who urged me to do it. I have no other choice," I explained.

"You always have a choice, like surrendering yourself to the Alliance," the man replied before he laughed loudly.

"I'm new in this world, but I already know what you're doing. So I want to ask, what exactly do you feel when you capture a Paladin and then take it to be killed?" I asked, curious.

"Promotion, women, sex, gold, we can all offer our reward for our achievements," the man replied, saying something I had never even thought about before, especially sex.

"Do you know why the Paladins were killed other than our intelligence?" I asked. The man fell silent as he continued to encourage me to keep walking.

"Then I'll make sure you guys are stupid, and I don't mind being beheaded for your stupidity. Let Camelot be crushed by idiots like you!"

The man behind me immediately pulled the chain that bound me, twisted my body, and his legs covered in iron shoes kicked me in the stomach, causing me to fall helplessly.

"You insulted us once again; I'll make sure you can see your intestines dangling out of your stomach!" moaned the man holding the shackle in my hand.

"That's enough. Don't fight! We need to get out of Izunaya as soon as possible."

They started walking and asked me to get back up and walk. I nodded. Not a single word came out of my mouth; the man who carried me kept on blabbering non-stop while insulting me with words that were not appropriate.

I was just silent, looking at the right and left of my body, the building that stood firmly with the occupants busy with their business. This journey is quite long and tiring. I might be looking for a chance to try to escape from the two of them.

This journey finally reached the border between Hyesu City and Camelot. As with the border in general, the armies from Izunaya stood guard fully armed.

They are not Adamas but ordinary citizens with a green cursor over their heads.

The man in red armor approached the Izunaya border officer. I noticed he seemed to give an emblem to the officer, who immediately let us pass by opening the gate.

Now, I am entirely within Camelot's territory. Came back unarmed and handcuffed with iron chains. They told me to continue walking into the forest; there was no one but trees and thick bushes.

The deeper we walked, I didn't expect the gate at the border to be out of sight. It signaled that we were stepping closer to the town center and getting closer to the beheading with my neck.

"Thank you for bringing me back here," I explained.

"It is we who are grateful. With you being executed, we will become rich people in Camelot," replied the man in white armor.

"Yeah, it looks like you want to rot here forever, sir."

"What did you say, damn?!" groaned the white-armored man, turning his body with both eyes on me.

The red-armored man suddenly stopped, followed by the white-armored man walking beside him. I did the same thing because being in the forest made my mind wilder. The last time I had to fight the grizzly bears in this place, lest they find me again.

"What's the matter, Lord Robert?" asked the man in white armor, calling his other friend by the name of Robert.

I, who was behind them, couldn't see what the two men were doing. Then, however, I flinched in surprise to see the white-armored man who had been holding the chain of shackles pierced with a sword.

"W-What happened?" I asked, surprised.

"You talk too much. Now is the time for you to be quiet!" said the man in red armor named Robert.

His comrade immediately fell down, covered in blood. The hole in his stomach was open, and red blood poured like flowing water. The man's face began to pale as if he was about to die.

I backed off my ledge, dodging both of them while trying to grab hold of the chains. Then, carefully and afraid, I immediately pulled the chain and ran out of the place in all directions.

I hope Robert won't chase me. I wish I could meet someone to help me. It was shocking; I never expected that fellow templars from the same group could kill each other.

JLEB!

My foot got hit by a small dagger! Unfortunately, My calf was hit by the weapon. I immediately fell face down with my face hitting the ground first; it forced Ichihara's borrowed Hwarang clothes to get dirty.

"AHH! It hurts."

I looked behind me. Robert began to walk while still wearing his red armor plated with gold. He arrived with his right hand covered in blood and his eyes glaring at me.

"A-Are you going to kill me?" I asked, worried.

A man named Robert arrived before me. His right hand immediately pulled out his sword and stuck the tip into the ground. What surprised me was that he was seen kneeling and lowering his head at me, who was still lying on the ground.

"I'm sorry, Lord. I didn't mean to hurt you," the man said. I was even more surprised by his words.

"What do you mean by calling me, Lord? Are you playing with me?!" I groaned, did not accept.

"My name is Robert Howard, and I am the Knights Templar," the man explained, sounding like he was introducing himself to me.

"I'm Arthur. Arthur Mason."

"Lord Arthur. I will swear to serve and protect you from threats," answered Robert.

"Wait! Why did you say you would protect me?" I asked.

When I asked him this, Robert looked like he was silent for a while. His eyes were elsewhere as if trying to avoid my gaze. The attitude he showed made me even more suspicious and scared. I thought a ruthless villain could hide his true identity to fulfill his primary purpose; that's what I was terrified of him.

"I have served in the Three Knights Alliance for eight years. I caught several people who went against the Alliance's vision and took them for execution, including you," the man replied.

"A lot of Paladins were executed by the Alliance; they say that Paladins are heretics and criminals. So they hunted the Paladins to be exterminated," continued Robert.

"Even though it's all clearly written in a manuscript I found in an ancient note in the library," said Robert; I squinted my eyes to think what manuscript he was talking about.

"What have you found?" I asked, curious.

"Do you know the name of the current King of Camelot?" asked Robert.

I shook my head. I had forgotten about it because I was busy training myself to not die. The king's name, the capital's name, the Camelot Kingdom's map, and so on. Something I left out which is actually required for general knowledge.

"He's Philip Richardson and a Knight Templar. He's the one who founded the Three Knights Alliance," replied Robert.

"A King from Adams? I don't get it, isn't the King here usually filled with NPCs?" I asked, confused.

Robert shook his head. It seems that there is something I don't know about this Kingdom. Eve didn't go into details because she probably didn't know. However, Robert could have told me everything considering he had been in the Alliance for eight years. I'm sure he has a lot of knowledge about the Kingdom and is experienced in Alliance.

"Perhaps the right question is why is a King from the Templar class? Not a Paladin?" asked Robert, squinting his eyes.

Paladins? Was it possible that the person most hated by all the Templars became King? Of course, it is impossible. Even entering the capital city is already threatened, let alone occupying the throne.

"Are you just kidding me!"

"I am not kidding. The people of the Paladin class are the true heirs to the throne."
