Chapter 80 - Chapter 80 - The Dorms [2]

A/N: Apparently we're four more collections (I think that's what it's called when you add sum to the library) from reaching 800. And like 9k views from reaching 300,000 views. I didn't realise till now and I'm just like "Damn." Anyways, back to our not so regularly scheduled program.

A/N: Never fucking mind I'm at 801 now somehow? On another note, I might be a bit busy for a bit this week coz I have a volleyball game on the 7th and I have a PE final exam so yk I might do some practice so I might not be bothered to write on certain days.

E/N: Wait wait wait, hold up a second… you have to take a final exam for PE? And it's that hard that you have to practice for it? Nah nah nah, I call cap.

A/N: I took extra PE for fun, and it'd be really fucking embarrassing if I didn't get an A. And like they're quite strict in terms of marks but the practice is mostly for the game.

Valier POV:

I didn't bring any luggage with me as the academy provided clothes, and I didn't really own anything so there wasn't anything to bring. I took a look at my room, it wasn't anything like the mansion, but it wasn't small by any means either. It was comfortably large, the bed was pretty nice and I had my own bathroom as well. It was fairly spacious, but like I said, it wasn't "mansion bedroom" spacious.

It was enough to satisfy me however. So I rolled up my sleeve and looked at the storage tattoo I had, I activated it and a cigarette then formed in my hand. I took a moment and lit it using Magic, I then put it to use, the smoke making its way deep into my lungs. The smoke gave me a sense of comfort. After all, smoking was a habit I developed after 'that.'

The smoke danced around me, slowly filling the room. This was my second cigarette today, meaning that I hadn't had very many. I wasn't a particularly heavy smoker after all. I looked at the school uniform laid out on my bed, and my eyes widened slightly. I had completely forgotten that the scent of smoke would be attached to the uniform.

Normally I didn't have to worry about hiding that I smoked. Cecillia, who was Irene's mother, didn't really care about what I did. She was working quite hard as there was a lot to do as the Archduchess, but unfortunately, she was a pain. She was an impulsive bitch who lashed out at people. She'd get violent with servants, random objects, and even myself.

Of course, she was angry at me for being the one who had survived instead of Iris. I could very easily have made her stop, but... I didn't think that I could really bring myself to do that when I owed a debt to her daughter. Her daughter's heart was what was keeping me alive, it'd be shameful to cause harm to Cecillia when being hit by her didn't really hurt since she wasn't particularly strong. She was weaker than both me and Irene after all.

Well, honestly, I'm not even sure if it was me who refused to harm Cecillia. It could be Iris after all, even in my old world, many reported changes to their personality and acquiring memories among other things after transplants. I essentially underwent a transplant after dying.

I basically died, was brought back via a Rune, and I essentially received a heart transplant. So, this lack of malice towards Cecillia could be a result of that. But this heart did have its own benefits, it resonated with Irene's bloodline so it essentially worked as an ID card. I meant it in the sense that Irene would always believe that I'm her actual blood brother unless she found out that we didn't have the same father.

(E/N: Huh, I thought Valier was a product of their dad's affair, so wouldn't it be them not having the same mom? Or it's been too long and I've already forgotten…)

A/N: No he doesn't share an ounce of blood w them. Its been over a year so even I don't fully remember the whole story atp.

I sighed, once I finished my cigarette, I burnt its remains with regular fire attribute Magic.

Then, a black shadow escaped from my body and took form. And so, Godsbane came out.

"Valier, get some sleep, you'll need it for tomorrow. Also, uhm..."

"What is it?"

"Why do you insist on keeping your hair quite long? It doesn't look bad, but it sort of contrasts with your personality, looking so pretty that is. And doesn't your hair get in the way?"

I grabbed a lock of my pure white hair and stroked it.

"Someone... important to me... No, someone I respected had long hair. So, I want to pay tribute to them in a sense since their death was my fault."

I could see his expression soften.

"Iris' death wasn't your fault."

I didn't move a muscle, I wasn't talking about Iris. Although... I truly also didn't want her to die, her death didn't really affect me, I was referring to my master, whose death truly was my fault.

I didn't blame myself for Iris' death, although it was true that if I had been strong enough, then I'd have been able to protect her, at that time I wasn't strong enough.

And because of that, the plot had... completely derailed. But I never cared about 'the plot', fate, destiny, and prophecy. Those words generally referred to a set future, but, I wouldn't allow my future to be some predetermined bullshit.

"I'm gonna wash up and head to sleep, school starts on Monday after all."

I went into the shower and stood there for a moment, enjoying the water trickling down my body.

This school would have a fair few exams, and they'd probably be able to teach me some stuff. For example, Mana. I'm shit with it, Godsbane isn't a Mage either, his race can just naturally manipulate space. And Cecillia hadn't bothered to teach me, so you could say that my usage of Mana wasn't anything to marvel at because I had no one to teach me.

I did try copying the knights at our estate by using my eyes to see how Mana operated, but it wasn't as if they were anything too special. So I decided that instead of building some possibly bad habits, it'd be better to wait and have an actual expert on the science explain it to me.

And so, I got ready for bed and went to sleep, somewhat interested in what'd happen on Monday.
