Chapter 69 - Chapter 69 - Lingering Wounds

A/N: Good news, tests over for like 5 weeks I think and hope and I've gotten a reasonably good mark in most tests so far, bad news, after the five weeks I have rather important exams! So yeah, uhh, yo boy is struggling in life 😭. And I got my report and my working grades are As in everything aside from two subjects and my parents are angry, anyways my bad for ranting yall, just not in a good mood tbh.

Valier POV:

Once I was done dealing with the Hassan, I decided that visiting Irene would be a good idea, however just as I was about to open the door, I felt a liquid in the corner of my mouth. I then heard a rather loud grumble coming from my stomach.

"I'm starving now that I think about it, and tired as well, the contract and the summoning of the Hassan really wore me out."

Without thinking, I heated my body up and got rid of the sweat that had built up on my body.

I then headed down towards where Irene currently was, and that coincidentally ended up being where Irene was situated. When I got to the table, I nearly tripped and fell, but I held on to the seat and was fine afterwards.

"How are your injuries?"

I looked at Irene, she should be mostly fine right now as her recovery went rather well, although it was recommended that she didn't use Mana for a week, so that she didn't end up damaging her Mana Veins or Mana Core. She also had caused some damage to her internal organs from using high class spells one after another for way too long.

It was sort of like lifting a weight at the gym when you were not warmed up yet, or you weren't strong enough for the weight. Say you were lifting a certain weight, while you could certainly complete the movement, you might not be able to maximize the rewards of it due to a wonky form and technique. Mana worked under very similar principles in the body, Irene had over exerted her Mana Core.

It wasn't life threatening or that dangerous as a whole, but it was like injuring a muscle, it needed time to heal. And if she overused her Mana again, she'd continue to cause damage to it.

But even without Mana, mages had naturally stronger bodies due to them constantly tempering their bodies. Of course, a typical mage would never be able to even hurt me, even if we both didn't use Mana, due to my Demonic Physique.

And speaking of my Physique, it was optimized for combat, my muscle insertions, the flexibility of my body, the density of my muscles, etc. Everything was designed for fighting. I learnt this when I was adapting Demon's Breath to my new and improved body.

However, this body of mine was more or less incapable of reaching a high level in crafting, repair, or other such trades. It was physically impossible for it to do that.

Irene looked back at me, breaking me out of my thoughts.

"I'm fine. Valier, I need to ask you something..."

I looked at her incredulously, there was no way she should've heard anything when reinhardt and I fought, but on the off chance she did...

"When did you awaken to the Dragon's Blood? I can feel it, your bloodline is 'resonating' with mine."

"Excuse me?"

Bloodline Resonance? That idea was new to me, so I really was confused.

"When two people have the same bloodline, they feel a connection of sorts. It more or less allows a person to identify their kin, and until now, I've never felt it from you. One of the options is that I couldn't feel it due to our bloodline abilities being weak before, or... you've recently awakened. And I'd assume it's the latter."

'Well, isn't this convenient?'

Without using Mana, I moved at terrifying speeds without making a sound, I appeared right behind Irene without using any aid and utilizing only my physical power.

"I see, a Dragonic Physique? How scary, I can almost feel your strength despite you not utilizing Mana or releasing your pressure. I wonder if that's why you've got that weird presence."

"Weird presence?"

"Yes, my master agrees as well. It's as if you're not alive. Your body's presence doesn't feel like a human's presence. Although, I suppose with that body, you've probably already taken a step outside of the realm of humanity, not in strength, but in physiology."

"I see."

I sat back down and had food served to me by the maids, Irene and I ate our food without uttering a word. I didn't really know why, but she seemed satisfied.

'I suppose this'll help explain the power I displayed during that fight, and the black fire at the end could just be thought of as my Fusion Magic.'

"Valier, when I turn fifteen next June, I'll have to go to Babylon the following January afterwards. Tou'll probably be alone here, so you should probably try and make friends at some point or get friendly with the servants."

"I'll try."

And with that, I began to eat. The taste of the food was good, as always.

A/N: Time skip probably inbound within the next few chapters, anyways, I'm excited to write about the academy arc. I kinda wanna make it a bit like classroom of the elite in terms of how the school is ran and I'm probably gonna make it so there'll be some manipulating and more behind the scenes fights. But its not set in stone tbh.

E/N: Hmm… a COTE like classroom, you know, I was just about to do that too… Also, readers, I'm not editing the A/N's cause they're his words, so don't blame me for his bad grammar in the A/N's.

A/N: Surprisingly enough, I did not get an A in English, I got a B.
