Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10

Was it directed towards me?

Was I the one he was speaking to?

I turned around to see the owner of the voice. He had an average height of 5'11" with a lean but slightly muscular build. He had a strong jawline and well defined cheekbones on a fair complexion. His hair were a chestnut brown, looking like as if they had been been ruffled by the wind. He had almond-shaped hazel eyes and a light stubble that supported his jawline. All in all, he was cute and the glasses added more charm to his look. He was supporting a jeans paired with a plain shirt.

"Do I know you?" I asked as I looked him up and down.

" No, you don't, I just transferred here. I thought I could ask you since you seemed the most decent of all those rich snobs." He tilted his head backward to point at my classmates.

" How do you know that I am not?" I asked as I started walking towards the exit.

"I just know.... So what's your name? He asked as he started walking beside me.

" Elaara... " I replied as we neared the entrance. I still had two hours before I had to go meet my uncle.

" Cute name, I am Kane, by the way, "I hummed as we reached the parking lot and then I turned towards him and continued...

"We can work on the assignment right now if you'd like.. "

"Oh, so you're a nerd han.." he spoke and I just gave him a look.

"On second thought, I'll finish the assignment and you can put your name as well," I said as I walked towards my cycle ready to take off.

"Man, you're rude..hold your horses, will ya" he said as he pulled my bag strap from the back which made me stumble and lose my footing as we both fell on the floor with a thud. My back was pressed to his chest with my bag sandwiched in between. He made an oomph sound because of the impact. Everyone around was staring at us. Great! we were the center of attention now.

I hurriedly slid to the side and glared at him while I stood up, making sure to fix my hat along the way. He had his arm stretched out as he asked me to help him.

"You're so annoying" I stomped and bicycled myself away leaving him stranded and unattended. I haven't been annoyed by someone this much in a while. what about the prince? Why do you have to bring him up in every conversation when he was good kind of annoying okay...are there even kinds of annoying??? You're making things up now. What?? No, I'm not... I said getting defensive.

I was in no hurry to meet my uncle today. I drove slowly as I enjoyed the weather. The cool breeze was something that always calmed me. It made me feel at ease... Why do you think he called you this time? Does he want to show you off like last time, that he has a Faerelore in possession who has no powers... Maybe El, I don't know, It was too embarrassing for me. Everyone made fun of my mother and I. Thinking about it only makes me want to kill them all.

They had asked me to do tricks for them, sometimes this, sometimes that. This has happened so many times that I can't even remember, see that's why I wanted to know... What was this that everyone knew but I didn't? I wanted to know it all and then I wanted to show them all...

Yes, and our time will come soon... Yes it will, by the way, you never told me, how you freed nik?

I don't know, we were desperate, your emotions were too strong and when you let go, everything changed and I felt this power in me, and th-

Ahhh-- my hand automatically went on the burning sensation that I felt at my neck... I had forgotten about the tattoo.

Do you feel this energy...I only feel the burn right now... I closed my eyes because of the pain as a lone tear escaped my left eye. Take deep breaths, they will help you, trust me.. and I did, I took deep breaths, in and out, in and out and the burn slowly dissipated into nothingness.

I had stopped near the edge by now.

I had forgotten about the time during this whole commotion. Since it was almost time, I hurriedly cycled away towards my destination. Upon arriving, I parked my bike and took a look at this tall 5-floor building. The exterior was all glass and brick paneled together to contrast. In the middle, stood the name, tall and proud SINCLAIR INC. my uncle's last name.

I took a deep breath and mustered all of my courage as I made my way towards the entrance. I was greeted by Cole, who was an aged man in his 60's. He has been with my uncle for as long as I can remember. I smiled as I went past him towards the elevator that led to the top floor. Once Inside, I calmed myself down, OK so you know the drill, Don't speak at all, you know what happens if you do!

Yeah! Yeah! I know, don't worry too much, Just know that I'm there... Thanks, I was ready. I heard the ding of the elevator as I stepped out and was greeted by Martha, my uncle's assistant.

"Hi Martha, How are you?" I asked as I smiled at her. She was a healthy woman in her mid-40s who stood about 5'6". Her hair was a beautiful shade of Chestnut brown, cut in a shoulder-length bob. She had a round face with high cheekbones and a smooth complexion. She had warm hazel eyes that matched her complexion smoothly. Her appearance clean and crisp as she looked the part of the assistant.

"I am good, Miss Elaara, thank you. Let me inform him that you are here." She replied sweetly as she went in to inform my presence.

"You can go in, he is in a meeting but he will be done shortly." I replied a thank you knocked on the door once and went inside. He was sitting on his chair near his desk as usual busy in a meeting. His office was a medium-sized space. It had a rectangular shape providing ample space for furniture and equipment. The walls were a warm shade of grey, giving out a professional vibe. The floor was carpeted in a beige tone, creating a quiet workspace.

One side of the room had a large window that allowed natural light to shine through, which had sleek blinders that went well the executive-style desk that stood in the middle of the room. It had all the essentials. There were a few cabinets on the sides for file storage. The front had a comfortable seating space which gave the room a comforting space.

I had nothing much to do while my uncle was in a heated conversation with whoever he was speaking to. My uncle was a man in his mid-50s who stood around 6 feet tall with a solid muscular build. He had a commanding presence. His hair was a dark brown shade with a few streaks of grey at the temple. He had a fair complexion, was always clean-shaven, and had a strong, angular jawline that added to his authoritative appearance. He had noticeable frown lines on his forehead and around his mouth. His eyes were a sharp piercing gray, framed by thick black eyebrows. His gaze was always intense and direct which always made me nervous around him.

I wished I had the guts to stand up to him and not do his bidding. I wanted to leave this so-called home of mine. My pocket money was controlled by him and he didn't let me work anywhere so I couldn't leave him. The amount that I have saved for myself were the jobs that I had managed to get as Killian. Elaara was known to be a Sinclair Faerelore everywhere in town. I heard a loud thud from where my uncle was sitting which got me out of a safe place, my mind.

"Let's go" He looked me straight in the eye as he got up from his seat and came to stand right in front of me.

"What the hell are you wearing? Don't you care about my reputation?" He growled as he manhandled me by my arm and dragged me along to where he was taking me.
