"Miss President, you don't need to show up like that."
Kiel pushed the door open for the lady, who stepped outside first. They were on their way to the parking lot and just got out of the lower lobby.
By hearing this, Devyn chuckled. "Why?" she couldn't help but recalled Miss Anna's face, flustered at her sudden appearance.
They reached the car and Kiel opened the door for her, then he went to the driver's seat. "Please put on your seatbelt." He turned on the engine as soon as the lady did what was told to her.
The restaurant he asked for reservation wasn't that far from the company, so they will be there in less than an hour. While he was driving, Devyn was checking her phone. She's looking at the datas she asked for her employees.
"President, don't overwork yourself. I can review that for you back in the office." Kiel makes a turn. He glanced at the lady quickly before going back to the road.
"It's fine. I just want to finish this. I don't want to worry over small things." She sighed and closed her eyes for a bit. You can see the exhaustion in her. "I don't want a disturbance while I'm enjoying the party." She added.
Kiel felt guilty. He should be the one arranging her partner for the month and he failed to give her satisfaction. She didn't even get the essence she needed for the month. For sure, she was really looking forward to the party tonight.
"We are here, President." he exited the car and went to the other side, opening the door for the lady.
Two waiters welcomed them and guided them to the private dining room. With a smile on their faces, they handed the menu book. "Please order to your stomach's content."
Kiel flipped the menu and looked at the lady. "President, what do you want to eat?" he asked, scanning the foods on the list. Madame Evelyn didn't tell him to look over at Devyn. The woman also told him to make sure that her daughter was eating healthy foods.
Devyn put down the menu and leaned her elbow up to her chin. "How about you order for me, Mr Kiel? If you're my assistant, you'll know what I want to eat." she smirked.
Kiel nodded. "Very well." He scanned the menu and finally made an order.
The two waiters left them and said to wait for a couple of minutes.
"What do you think of the party?" Devyn started a conversation. "For sure, the Fenrir Clan wanted something, right?"
Kiel glanced at her. "I am really not quite familiar with them. But I heard about them on the news. They might be going into something right now and need more hands. What do you think, President?" he asked.
"Hmm.." Devyn tilted her head a little, looking at the glass wall near their spot. "They're all just the same. No matter what status they have, they're just looking for something that satisfies them." then she giggled, looking back at the man. "Isn't that what I look like, too?"
A simple smile curved up on Kiel's lips. "You're wrong, Miss President. You're not like that in my eyes." he said.
"Really?~," Devyn mischievously smiled. "Then what kind of boss am I in Mr Kiel's perspective?" she asked, leaning closer.
The guy cleared his throat. "President Devyn is a good person. You're always considering your employees' opinions before making your decision." he said. "I am thankful to work under you." He also looked at the view in front of his eyes. The tall building that almost reaches the skies.
This wealthy city he once wanted to escape now feels comfortable because he's working under Devyn. He wanted to thank her that much, but he also didn't want to look pitiful in her eyes. It was enough for him to give her everything as an assistant.
"That fluttered me," Devyn teased. "Do you want something? 20% extra for the month's salary?" She asked, amused by the expression she just saw.
Kiel bowed. "I am content with my salary right now. Just working under you is enough. It's my honor, President." he checked his watch, wondering when will their order would arrive.
But Devyn used it to her amusement instead. "Mr Kiel, you're always this serious, even at work. How come you manage to remain calm even though I'm yelling at you sometimes?" she leaned more, closing the distance between them.
"Do you really want others to see you as my obedient pet?" she smirked. "If I remember, you're the crybaby when we were young."
Again, that trigger. Kiel felt the lump in his throat and his finger twitched under the table. He suddenly felt these tingling needles slowly piercing him. He already forgot those memories. The fact that they were once childhood friends.
"It's because I separate my personal life from work." he replied, calming himself down.
Devyn pursed her lips. "I know, but you are too serious. You're just making it easier for me to tease you more." her eyes turned to him as if she meant what she really said. "I do really like that expression of yours. I wonder what you'll look like if you're having sex with someone."
Kiel gulped. "If you're asking for my personal preferences. I am too busy to date anyone, Miss President." his face remained composed.
"And stop teasing me. I am still in my uniform and suit, so I am here as your assistant. I don't have time for that," he added.
Devyn seemed satisfied. She leaned back and crossed her legs, then looked at Kiel with her intense eyes. "Then how about I strip off your clothes and tease you then? Would it make you not my assistant anymore since you're not wearing any suit or uniform?"
Kiel cleared his throat. "President, it's inappropriate to think of someone like that."
He stood up. "Please excuse me for a while. I will check our orders. I will tell them to be quick next time."
Kiel exited the private dining room and bumped into the waiters with their food on the way. He felt relieved and told them to serve it properly for he will go to the bathroom quickly.
