Chapter 18 - The Visitor

He groaned when he felt his body heating up from the sweats. He turned to the other side of his bed and managed to grab his phone.

Kiel squinted when the brightness met his eyes. It was already 3pm. He slept for almost 4 hours. The truth is, he didn't expect this fever. He thought that after relieving himself, he would be fine in the next few hours.

But as soon as the night became deeper last night, he slowly became weak and hot all over his body. The next thing he realized, he's already burning up and feeling dizzy.

He also vomited a few times while forcing himself to take a bath earlier. He put on his jacket and wrapped himself in a blanket. Despite having sweats, he felt very cold down on his toes.

Kiel also contacted his doctor and told him about his condition. His doctor told him to rest at home because he might end up in a bad condition. It was Kiel's first time experiencing a trigger rut.

He's right about last night. This is all because of the effect of the pills Luca had that got mixed in Devyn's pheromones and in those alphas. The doctor told him that because he was sensitive, it's very possible for him to experience this.

He then remembered the appointments he did earlier before sleeping. He left the bed and went to his desk, opening his laptop. He checked the emails. Kiel then got bothered. He was sure that he sent the email straight to Devyn, so why didn't the lady haven't responded?

Could it be that Devyn didn't like one of them at all? The guy rubbed his throbbing head, and scolded himself. "I should have picked another batch, I guess," he whispered.

Kiel stood up and headed to the kitchen. He grabbed a drink and brought it back to his room. After that, he received a call from Miss Anna.

"Mr Kiel, how are you?" the worried lady asked.

"I am quite fine now. Thank you, Miss Anna. Is working as an assistant hard? Do you need any help?"

Hearing all of this, the other lady smiled. "Mr Kiel, I am fine. The work is not that really hard. President didn't give me a hard time." She leaned on the staircase. "I called because I want to ask if you're okay."

"Thank you for worrying, Miss Anna. I am still a little dizzy, but I can do some small tasks for now." his eyes went back to the screen and from the background, the lady heard his keyboard.

"Just don't forget to take medicines, Mr Kiel. Also, the president was worried about you. She canceled all her meetings, too," Miss Anna shrugged, realizing the left works on her.

Kiel's plan didn't work. Devyn is still a stubborn lady. He sighed with this. "Thank you for letting me know, Miss Anna."

After ending the call, the guy heard his doorbell ring. He jerked up, wondering who would it be. He didn't have any deliveries today, and he also didn't invite anyone.

Kiel hurried to the entrance. With only barefoot he opened the door.

Their eyes met.

The lady was the first one who took her games that turned sharper. "How dare you get sick without my permission?" she asked.

Kiel blinked for a while. If he is still feeling dizzy, then for sure this is all an illusion. But he already blinked a few times and everything didn't disappear. Devyn is indeed here.

"I'm sorry." he gave way after realizing the minutes had passed. "Please come in." and so the lady headed inside.

"President, do you need something?" Kiel closed the door. "You can just email me everything. You don't need to come here." he said.

Devyn looked around and found the place clean and organized. "Where's the kitchen?" she asked instead.

Kiel flinched. He saw those bags in the lady's hand. "President, please give it to me," he took it. "The kitchen is in this way."

Devyn followed him and watched him unpack those bags. She pulled a chair and sat down. "I brought medicines for your rut. Rest assured, I asked my doctor, and he told me to let you eat those foods, too"

The medicines were poured out of the plastic bags and it left a big question mark on the guy, who really didn't really need it at all.

"President, you don't need to do this. I am already taking medicine and can go to work tomorrow," he insisted, noticing the prices of those medicines.

"If you don't need it, just throw it away." Devyn bluntly said, leaving a sulking impression which was already noticed by the guy.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound so rude." Kiel walked to the cabinet. "Do you want coff–" he halted, suddenly feeling the dizziness. He clenched the side of the sink and gasped.

His chest felt so tight again, and the suffocating feeling was coming back. Did he already overwork himself? He just got out of the bed a few minutes ago. It's not even an hour. How long will this effect last on him?

THUD!

Devyn sprang and dashed beside the man who had already fallen but managed to support himself by grabbing the nearest chair.

"Kiel?"

She pulled his other hand, trying to support him. "Geez, what happened?" she tapped his forehead and saw those sweats. "You're burning up. Are you trying to kill yourself?"

Kiel, of course, didn't decline her help. He tried to lift up his upper body. Devyn can't carry him by herself. She's smaller than him and much heavier.

"Hold on, where's your room?" She whispered to him closer. "Let me bring you there–just a little more,"

Luckily, before the man passed out, they were already in the living room. Devyn sighed, couldn't believe that she carried almost half of his weight.

She went back to the kitchen and carefully scanned the medicines that she had already asked for for prescriptions. Of course, she consulted their family doctor in case Luca gave her another bait.
