The simplest, most effective, and straightforward way of using space magic to attack someone that both Asilean and Merr used was to affect and temper the space where their target was. Tearing space was naturally the most destructive since it also tore apart the target's body if successful.
However, tearing the space overlapping with living beings was usually quite challenging due to the being's mana naturally resisting the effects of spatial tearing. And it was even more useless to try and tear space to rip apart a space mage since they were naturally resistant to space magic.
But that didn't mean space mages couldn't be injured by space magic. It just meant they wouldn't be as severely injured if struck by a space magic attack if not prepared. Space mages also had a slightly easier time defending themselves against space magic. But they were by no means immune, even if they were prepared for the attack.
