Back in the 2000s, Steve grew up in an orphanage. He was put there for a reason, but nobody knew what it was, ever since that day he wanted to know why. Not until January 2008 did he finally get what he wanted.
Steve wakes up from his sleep, it looks like this was going to be another normal day in the orphanage, no news from his parents, nothing. Then he proceeds to have lunch with Howard.
Howard: Good day, Steve!
Steve: Good day, Howard.
Howard: How did you sleep?
Steve: Fine, I guess.
Howard: Oh, ok, my dream was completely awful, I dreamed that I was this... Power Ranger, and... It was so cool! You should have seen that dream.
Steve: Are you sure you were a Power Ranger?
Howard: Well... Similar to them, at least.
Steve: Ok.
After the lunch was over, Steve went outside, and sitted on a park chair, when suddenly, he saw something falling from the sky, Steve noticed, and he ran away. Turns out it wasn't something; It was someone. A young green haired woman fell on her back and after it she let out a soft mouth sound due to the pain.
She was getting back up, she saw Steve, and then she looked upwards to see a monster that was about to land on the kid.
Woman: Look out!
She then runs and grabs Steve to save him.
Woman: Are you alright, kiddo?
Steve gives a positive nod, blushing after seeing her white skinned face, short green hair, and red goggles that she had on her head but wasn't using them.
Woman: Listen, kiddo, first off, I'm going to need you to, first and foremost, to go somewhere safe, you alongside the other kids, and second... If you can see the action from said safe place... You're welcome to watch the show.
The woman winks at Steve, and he runs away. The woman resumed fighting against the monster, she ran toward him, she jumped and then she kicked him in the face, it did hurt, but not too much. The monster tried to hit her with his club, but she was quite agile, as she could dodge the attacks. Both of them started to pant. The young woman moreso, since this was the second monster, they already dealt with the first.
Annie shows up, and slams the monster to the ground with a punch. For her, the word "Tired" sounds like a foreign language.
Woman and Annie: Are you alright there? We should see if the others are fine as well! Thanks for asking!
They both spread to see if the others were fine, meanwhile Steve, Howard, and the others were in the basement.
Howard: Wow, your sunglasses were a bigger priority than mine and your own lives, huh? Well thought, Steve.
Steve: I know, I know but...
Steve was staring at the others.
Steve: No. Too many people. Can't tell you.
The young woman, alongside Annie, opened the basement and saw the others.
Woman: Is everyone ok? We dealt with the monster!
Most people cheered and everyone was happy.
Woman: Glad to know! Well, I guess our job is done here.
Headmaster: Wait!
Woman: Huh?
Headmaster: Since you helped us in this orphanage, may I suggest you stay here? We want to invite you to have lunch with us.
Annie: Or... Phanage?
Annie gets teary eyed.
Annie: OH, PLEASE! WE ARE WILLING TO STAY HERE FOR THESE CHILDREN... FOR THESE POOR CHILDREN...
Headmaster: Uh... Miss, please don't say another word, you might trigger the children.
Annie: What do you mean?
Annie sniffs.
Annie: I was going to say that those poor children don't have-
The young woman covered her mouth.
Woman: Oh, thanks a lot! We are glad to have lunch with you.
Headmaster: Alright then, then it's settled!
Then the girls had lunch... In their own particular way, and played a lot with the children. While this was happening, Steve was practicing what to say to the beautiful woman who saved his life, he decided he practiced enough, and, with his sunglasses, he went and talked to her.
Steve: Uh... Miss?
Woman: Oh, it's you, kiddo! How are you doing?
Steve: I'm doing... Quite alright, thanks for asking.
Woman: You're welcome.
Steve: Since I didn't get the chance to say it, I just wanted to say... Thanks for saving my life.
Woman: Oh, it was nothing! I love helping people out, you know? It's my job, and my hobby.
Steve: Oh, cool... I'm Steve by the way. What 's your name?
Woman: I am Laurie Moroder! Or Synthpop. Actually, you can call me either Laurie or Synthpop, I don't mind.
Steve: Alright... Laurie it is, then.
Annie: Hello there, little kid! How are you doing? I'm Annie!
Steve: I am Steve.
Annie: Hello, Stevie!
Steve: Actually... There's something I've been meaning to ask.
Laurie: Go ahead bud, say it.
Steve: I... I want to find my mom and dad.
Laurie: Oh, of course! We can do it right now, your problem is solved!
Steve: Wait, really?
Laurie: Yes, come with us!
Steve later went with Laurie and Annie... But they realized they should ask for permission first and later, for the first time, Steve entered inside the RV.
Steve: Wow... This... This is amazing!
Laurie: Yup, it's much more fatter on the inside than on the outside.
Steve: Wait, seriously?
Steve goes out for a second, and finally notices it.
Steve: Sweet!
Annie: Alright, Stevie, if you excuse me, I'm going to cut a little hair from you, and use it to locate your relatives!
Steve: Finally, it's been a long time.
Laurie: Are you excited?
Steve: Yeah.
After locating their relatives, the three of them went to where they are.
Steve: I have to wonder, are you going to do the same for the others in the orphanage?
Laurie: Ever heard of laziness?
Steve: Yes?
Laurie: Heh! Well, that's what's happening with me.
Steve: I... I could understand.
They finally arrived. Annie was the one who opened the door first...
Laurie: Alright, Annie, what do you see?
Annie: Um... They might work here... I hope so.
Steve: What do you mean?
Annie: Ex... Excuse me, I'm going to the bathroom.
Annie goes to the bathroom.
Steve: What did she see?
Laurie then looked at what she saw.
Laurie: I'm... So sorry, Stevie.
Steve: What? What happened?
Steve went outside, they weren't in a house, they were in a cemetery.
Steve: No... No... No! Please, tell me that they are...
Steve then found an epitaph, and what caught his attention was that his last name appeared twice. He took off his sunglasses and started crying. Laurie hugged him, and Steve did the same for her.
They return to the orphanage, with Steve now knowing what happened to his parents. Howard could have said some sarcastic comment, but he didn't say it. Steve took a while before he fell asleep.
On the following days, Laurie and Annie visited the orphanage to see how Steve was doing, after the days went by, they decided to adopt him. After he was adopted, he helped a lot of the two women who adopted him.
Back in the present day, Steve without his sunglasses told all of this to Farshtey.
Farshtey: I... I didn't know about that, kid. Sorry.
Steve: It's fine, now you understand why I must do this. I had a feeling the other dimensions were as bad as mine, and if I don't do anything to help, it will be worse... And I really miss those caresses she gave to me.
Farshtey: She... Made you promise that you should become a hero?
Steve: No, I just... Felt it. I figured... This might keep her alive.
Farshtey: What happened to her?
Steve remained silent.
Farshtey: Kid, I am going to be glad to help you out to carry on Laurie's legacy, sure, you might be a flawed hero... But I have faith in you. Just allow me to guide you.
Steve: Thanks, Farsh.
Farshtey: Anytime.
Steve stood up, put on his sunglasses, and offered Farshtey to shake hands.
Synthwave: For Laurie?
Farshtey: For Laurie.
They both shook hands.
Meanwhile, in another dimension, there is a serum dealer drinking what it appears to be a can of soda, he then makes spontaneous, strange moves, and then he follows up with a scream of evil joy.
