Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 12: WHAT A SURPRISE!

Two maids were assigned to make sure Lian was comfortable. Bella and Eva looked at each other with a calm but face full of words. In Eva's heart, she wanted to hug Lian straight away but who would dare do that? Fidel would skin her alive.

Kate walked in after a long day shopping from the money Katherine had given her. The tension in the air made her shiver a little. What was happening here?

Walking into the house, she met Bella and Eva coming down the stairs while talking happily. She stood and blocked their way.

"Anything in this castle? Everything is …"

"She's out." Eva smiled at her.

"Seven…"

But the two passed her and walked away to do their work. Kate ran into her room to pack before walking into Fidel's bedroom. She sighed when she realized they were not here. At least not what I think!

Kate walked into the room where Eva was placed. She was even jealous they had ordered a family doctor to attend to her. Fidel was seated there going through a book for God knows what was in it. She didn't dare peeped because she avoided trouble or Fidel blowing up on her.

Lian lay in bed looking pale but calm. Her face was still beautiful and clean.

Well, Kate grew up knowing Lian was her sister, not until her mother later told them Lian was not their biological sister. They shared the same father but her mother was different. The whereabouts of Lian's mother was still unknown till now. Actually, Senior Jones got himself involved with a young girl outside his marriage, got her pregnant but wouldn't marry her. She later gave him his baby at six months and disappeared from the face of the earth. Where she went, no one knew.

"Huh! My sister has really suffered. She really doesn't deserve such a cruel man like you Fidel." Kate faked her anger and told him.

True… Fidel thought inwardly as he closed the book in his arms. She was someone who was more focused into her life and dared not look for anyone's trouble. She lived her own life and didn't like when someone came in between her and her work or anything she valued. She liked expressing her thoughts and never hated anyone unless there was something to raise hatred.

When she first turned down Fidel, she said right in her father's face that she wouldn't be forced to be married to a man because of a family that never cared for her.

She later begged Fidel to allow her go to work.

The disappointment in her face when she realized Fidel had gone ahead and had her resign from Dawn Hotel was clear.

All this ran into Fidel's mind as he looked up at Kate.

"I need to talk to you in private." Fidel said standing up and walking to the balcony.

Kate was between a mixture of happiness and nervousness. She thought maybe her statement had caused his anger to rise. But anyway, since she came here, Fidel had not given her even a single glance, leave alone talked her. She embraced this chance with all her heart.

Adjusting her skirt to expose more of her thighs, she walked over and intentionally brushed her body against his back and she moved to the opposite side. Fidel frowned.

"Am sorry." Kate said in a sexy voice. He said nothing in return

Silence reigned as Kate waited for Fidel to speak. She kept adjusting her posture exposing her body more for him to see.

On the other hand, Fidel's distant eyes stared in the space far away. He frequently bitb her lips as if in deep thoughts.

He was thinking about the pictures and the illustrations Lian had drawn and written in the book. Aside from being a perfect artist and drawing faces exactly the way they are, she wrote very heart touching statements.

Under his picture, she wrote, 'I wish I could love you better, but I just can't."

What did she mean? Fidel thought. Maybe she should tell me how to make her love me. Maybe it would be better.

Under her dad's picture she wrote… "As your first daughter, I never got the love I deserved, but I wish I could have gotten enough respect."

So touching. Fidel thought as he swallowed.

She went ahead to give accounts of her life, talking about how her life made a negative turn. She said…' Even as am shut down from the outside, I still wish I could get my freedom.' And… "Though I have lost hope of walking out of this room alive, mom, I wish in my next life, I meet you before I meet my death."

That seemed to be the point she completely lost hope of living. I feel guilty. Fidel said inwardly.

"You said you wanted to talk to me." Kate couldn't stand the silence anymore.

"Umm… about what you said. It's true your sister doesn't deserve a cruel man as me. What do you think I should do to be a better man to your sister?"
