Chereads / Overlord: Flavor Text / Chapter 3 - Pelicans

Chapter 3 - Pelicans

It was...the Angel To be honest, the flavor text I could use for the Angel race piqued my interest more than what a vampire could offer...

Year 2126 AD

My God, I'm a failure; I should just die. How can I call myself an overlord Stan when I'm fleeing a swarm of pelicans half my level ? I didn't know what to do; they're basically pelicans from hell, on steroids and every other unnatural way to bulk up. They also look like they eat car engines for breakfast. The mere thought of being close to them made my spine shiver. So here I am, fleeing from a swarm of demon pelicans.

You may be wondering why I'm running when I'm stronger than them. I'm not sure if you can hear my internal panic, but I'm terrified their legs are long, they're taller than me, and they have much larger peaks than a normal pelican should have, and their squawking was demonic, and they had a buff chest, yes it looked like you could bounce on them like a yoga ball, they were just very intimidating. I had no idea I was afraid of pelicans until I discovered this area where they could roam indefinitely. Whoever came up with this should have diarrhea for the rest of their lives.

'Please, please, please save me from these terrible monsters that the devs decided to create,' I begged. The developers made this place as a joke to fuck with me, Jesus Christ. This is how they thank me for helping them with a couple of bugs. When I recommended that they add these pelicans, they knew I was joking.

Okay, now for some context. I was wandering around Nilfheim looking for nothing in particular when I came across a bug; to say I was surprised is an understatement. How could they have allowed a bug to be so powerful? The bug was essentially an infinite gold farm; if I hadn't been wealthy, I would never have reported it to the developers. But my admiration for them for creating such an amazing game, and my idols, outweighed my greed, and I reported the bug after getting Billions of gold from the glitch and then purchasing Billions of gold from the [store] so they wouldn't suspect me of using the glitch.

After that, whenever I found a bug, I exploited it and reported it to the developers.

I became a snitch for them. But because I did, I was able to make friends with the majority of the developers in charge of creating things. And, despite my joking suggestion that they include something that would frighten me, they did, much to my horror.

You may be thinking, "Wait, you're rich?" Yes, I am after logging out one day. I was hit with a killer migraine AGAIN! and I discovered I was in the unambitious futuristic Japanese version of Bruce Wayne. Before he became Batman. But instead of becoming this terrible world's Batman, I became a gamer. I mean, in this world, there was basically no crime because everything was controlled by corporations and everyone was too exhausted to do crime, so instead of fighting money with money, I stayed at home and gamed. Spending billions on the game, and because I spent so much money, I was able to reach level 100 in less than three months, despite not sleeping for the majority of the time.

Being one of the first 1000 players allowed to play early also helped a lot. This body was not only wealthy, but it also signed up for Yggdrasil early.

How lucky am I 😁…

Anyway, here I am, literally and metaphorically fleeing my demons.

I mean, I suppose I could kill them, but how? If I couldn't bring myself to approach them, "PLEASE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE I PROMISE I'LL NEVER COME BACK PLEASE," the demonic pelicans' only response was squawks and increased speed.

'Even if you're not likely to listen to me, please someone something save me please' as I finished that prayer, as if answering, a man in bronze armor dashed past me and began taking on the pelicans God? I questioned.

I watched the bronze Warrior take on my worst nightmares, and admiration filled my heart. I could tell who he was from his build and antennas sticking out of his helmet. Touch Me My second favorite character in the Overlord series.

Why did I start running again after watching him take on the pelicans for a few more seconds? I don't want them to come after me again. Sure, Touch Me was my idol; he was the epitome of justice...but I couldn't bring myself to be near those demons! I dove behind a large tree and peered out after getting a good distance away from the battle. I couldn't fight with him, but I could buff him.

[Body of Effulgent Beryl], [Heal], [Lesser Dexterity], [Lesser Strength] [Quick March] [Light healing] [Anti-Evil].

After buffing Touch Me, he made quick work of the Pelicans, making me question their strength; I mean, they were half my level, but was that really all they could do come on now!

After a few minutes, I heard the cracking of dry leaves coming my way. After a few seconds, the footsteps came to a halt in front of the tree I was hiding behind. "Hey, were you the one who buffed me?" "Yeah, it was me," I replied after a few seconds of silence, "SPECTACULAR!!" After those words, Touch me burst through the tree above my head, leaving a man-sized hole in the tree. Though he couldn't see it, I stared wide-eyed at the man who landed in front of me and said, "Your buffs were SPECTACULAR!!" Touch Me said With a pose

"Were they?" I inquired, my eyes twinkling. "Of course they were!!" "Without them, I couldn't have defeated those pelicans with Justice!!" "Wow," I said, "what's your name?" Touch me enquired. "Samael" "Touch Me, he extended his hand, nice to meet you SAMAEL!!" "Wait! Samael?" "As in the number one player, Samael?" "Yeah," I said, holding his chin in a contemplative position. "You must have been afraid of those pelicans," Touch Me said.

"Well, I have to be going now, there are many others who need justice." Touch Me started walking away.

"Wait! Can I come with you?" Touch Me came to a halt."Do you want to give the gift of justice alongside me?"

"Yeah"

He began to glow. I had no idea his race could do that.

"OF COURSE, SAMAEL-SAN, LET US DELIVER JUSTICE TOGETHER!!"

I approached him and we began walking away from pelican territory, unaware that this was the beginning of an epic origin story.

That day, I added something to my flavor text. [Nothing frightens the Angel Samael].
