Long after Nadia left the room, Annalise remained. She'd sunk into the sofa and stared out the window watching as Nadia and Leah got into a car and Leah drove off.
She continued to stare out the window, her eyes fixed on the path the car had taken, a heavy sense of loneliness enveloping her. She had messed up their friendship and she feared it was unsalvageable.
A soft knock came from the door and Mrs. Moreno open the door and poked her head into the room, a small, sad smile on her face before she stepped inside.
"Darling," She called softly when she reached Annalise, and all of a sudden, the weariness from managing to hold up so much from so long hit, and Annalise found herself feeling completely exhausted and so when Mrs. Moreno hugged her, she gave all of the overwhelming emotions an outlet.
Mrs. Moreno held her, whispering into her hair and promising her it was fine when she repeatedly apologized to the woman.
