Elation glowed inside her at the sight of him and without thinking twice, she ran straight into his arms. He was ready and immediately, Nicolás picked her up, sweeping her off her feet, his strong arms wrapping around her waist, hers reaching to wrap around his neck.
They said nothing for the next few minutes, locked in each other's embrace. Annalise could feel her head swoon with joy,
She pulled back to look at him. "How… How did you… I thought I'd be meeting Savio."
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, nuzzling her. "Not with me alive, love."
And a rush of excitement bolted through her, Annalise felt it all the way to her toes. He was here and as long as they were together, everything was going to be all right, she wasn't going to be forced to meet Savio and pretend they were a couple.
