Luciana couldn't sleep. It was one of those nights except that it had been one of those nights ever since the night she lost her daughter and it didn't seem to be getting any better. Not even now that she had decided to give up the search.
The empty part of her mind still pounded, nudging at her and begging to be filled up with something, and now that she no longer had her daughter to look for, she had no hope left to keep feeding it. She was blank, empty, and completely sucked and left dry.
She glanced at the man lying on the bed next to her, her husband of the last 27 years whom she had no love left in her heart for, never had. The only thing that remained with her was an overwhelming sense of fear more than respect.
