There was nowhere in this tiny space to hide and it was obvious enough to Annalise that she was going to get caught. Sweat beads rolled down her back, she couldn't imagine what the men would do to her that was if they didn't shoot her as soon as they set their eyes on her.
She stifled a gasp when the doorknob twisted and snapped her eyes shut waiting for the next move but it didn't come, in fact, no one did and nothing happened.
She peered her eyes open to see the knob had been released and she was still alone.
"What are you doing here?" She heard Nicolás ask from the main office and despite her anger at him, the sound of his voice was still able to cause her immense relief, Annalise could have cried.
"We think someone's here sir," one of the men replied.
"There's a woman's purse and…"
Nicolás interrupted. "That's my wife's, we had been here together and she left this. Go on, there's nothing to be worried about."
"But sir…"
