Her heart was pounding so loud, Annalise was sure the both of them could hear it.

"You… You saw me before tonight?" she asked. Annalise knew all about not trusting strangers and that was rightly so because apparently, this man wasn't just seeing her for the first time today and the fact that he'd pretended to and had meticulously planned this and had brought b her out here to be alone with her was scary.
She shook her head disagreeing with herself - there hadn't been anything meticulous about it, she had just been an idiot who had easily allowed herself to be fooled and now she was on the balcony, away from everyone else and with a strange man who claimed to not be able to get her off his mind.
"I'm sorry I lied to you," he said with a genuinely apologetic look. "I didn't want to scare you off from the start."
