Nicolás was by her side, his arms wrapped around her, whispering soothing words to her ears until Annalise felt her heart rate begin to slow down.
"It's okay, you're safe," he said in a gentle tone. "It was just a nightmare."
She sobbed quietly into his chest as he ran his hands down her hair and back. She could still feel the lingering emotions of fright that had accompanied her nightmare, it had felt so real, Annalise was still finding it hard to believe it hadn't been.
She could still feel the large palm that had been wrapped around the back of her neck and no matter how she did not want to, her eyes still wandered toward the mirror and she could almost see herself as the man had smashed her head into it.
"You'd be better off sleeping in a different room, Annalise. Don't be stubborn about it."
