Annalise stood up from her position, the shock evident on her face. She had thought seeing the woman here meant she had unfinished business and was more than likely here to say something even more demeaning but, an apology? Now that was impossible.
Mrs. Moreno echoed Annalise's thoughts. "An apology, Lucianna? Did you hit your head in the short time since we left you?"
Before she could answer, Nadia walked into the house holding onto a pretty-looking Vittoria who was dressed in a ballet outfit. Nadia stopped as soon as her eyes came upon the scene.
Mrs. Caruso seemed to be working hard to contain her anger from how tightly clenched her fists were and the discomfort displayed on her countenance.
"I wasn't talking to you, Angelique." And she turned to Annalise. "I apologize for hitting you, it was wrong."
Nadia's shocked eyes met Annalise and she mouthed. "What the hell?"
