Finally, she was back in her room, retired for the night. The last of the guests leaving had left and the ones spending the night had also retired to their rooms.
Annalise stepped forward, her discarded suitcases staring back at her. She took in a breath and began to fix them, folding clothes back into them, and when she was done, she had two suitcases full of clothes, bags, shoes, and other necessities. She would be leaving here the next morning, she had stayed long enough.
Although the decision had been made in the heat of emotions, Annalise realized now that it had been one she should have made long before now, right from when she had been asked to publicly renounce Nicolás. That had been the first sign that something had been terribly wrong but she had been too awed by the thought of finally reuniting with her family to have actually realized that.
