Chapter 30 - Teaching??really

After their training session, Ryo found a moment of solitude as he retreated to a quiet corner of the Occult Research Club. He leaned against the wall, letting the echoes of laughter and banter fade away as he focused on himself. In the midst of his relentless teasing and intense training, he felt a strange pull to check his stats again.

With a flick of his wrist, he summoned his status window.

Ryo blinked, surprised to see the new skill listed among his abilities. Teaching? He wasn't exactly the type to stand in front of a class and lecture students, but then again, training Issei had required some level of instruction. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

"Well, look at that. A teaching skill. Who knew sarcasm was an educational tool?" He smirked, shaking his head. "Guess I can add 'Certified Sarcastic Instructor' to my résumé."

With his curiosity piqued, Ryo focused on the Teaching skill. It was only at level 1, but it felt like it had potential. He had already helped Issei in more ways than he realized, and perhaps this skill would allow him to refine his approach even further.

"Maybe this could come in handy," he muttered. "If nothing else, it'll give me an excuse to be more sarcastic when giving instructions. 'No, Issei, that's not how you throw a punch. You're doing it like a five-year-old trying to swat a fly!'"

Ryo chuckled again, picturing the look on Issei's face when he inevitably messed up again during their next training session. He felt a spark of motivation to level up the skill. Perhaps he could help not just Issei but others who might need guidance in harnessing their abilities.

As he pondered this, Sona approached him, her expression curious. "What are you smiling about?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

"Just discovered I have a new skill—Teaching," Ryo replied, a smirk still on his face. "I'm thinking of running a 'How Not to Fight Like a Rookie' workshop. Care to sign up?"

Sona raised an eyebrow, trying to suppress a smile. "You might be better off leading a workshop on sarcasm. I'm sure you could fill a whole semester with that."

"Hey, that would be a hit," Ryo replied, crossing his arms. "I could teach people how to master the art of passive-aggressive remarks while simultaneously dodging attacks. It's a niche skill."

"Maybe you should focus on actual combat techniques first," Sona suggested, suppressing a laugh. "Besides, you're the one training Issei. The more you teach him, the better he'll become."

Ryo nodded, feeling a new sense of purpose swell within him. "You're right. If I want to make the most of this skill, I should work on leveling it up. Who knows, maybe I can turn Issei into a powerhouse—and give him some great material for his bragging rights."

As he walked back to the training area with Sona, Ryo felt the energy of the academy shift around him. He was no longer just a player in the game; he was becoming a crucial piece of the board, shaping the outcome of battles that lay ahead. The prospect of leveling up his Teaching skill motivated him to work harder, not just for himself but for the friends he had made along the way.

When they reached the training grounds, Issei was already there, practicing his punches against a wooden training dummy. Ryo watched for a moment, taking in the sight of his friend's focused determination.

"Issei!" Ryo called out, approaching with a playful grin. "Looks like you're preparing to throw a tantrum. What's the dummy done to you this time?"

Issei paused mid-punch, turning to Ryo with a huff. "It's not a tantrum! I'm just working on my technique!"

"Right, because nothing says 'I'm a powerful devil' like punching a wooden dummy," Ryo said, shaking his head. "If you're trying to channel your inner punching bag, maybe I should get you a sticker that says 'I'm a winner!'"

"Very funny, Ryo," Issei replied, rolling his eyes but unable to hide a grin.

"Alright, listen up," Ryo said, turning serious for a moment. "I've got a new skill to help you with—Teaching. So, let's see if we can turn that determination of yours into something useful."

With that, Ryo began to guide Issei again, focusing on refining his form and technique, all the while layering in more sarcastic quips to keep the mood light.

"Remember, Issei," he said, demonstrating a punch, "the goal is to hit the enemy, not to give them a heartfelt apology for your pathetic swinging. Now, throw that punch like you mean it! Like you're trying to take back a lost date!"

As the training continued, Ryo felt a thrill of excitement. He was not just a combatant but also a teacher, and with every lesson he imparted, he knew they were all growing stronger together.

Ryo would take this newfound skill and mold it into something extraordinary. And if he had to do it with a little sarcasm along the way, all the better. After all, who didn't need a good laugh while facing the challenges ahead?
