John and Sophia sat in the dining room. Henry joined them after a while. Then Dominick, Viona, and Lilly followed later. They enjoyed the breakfast without mentioning Lilly's kidnapping. They ate without talking, as each had things to think about.
After finishing breakfast, John said, "Henry, why don't you show Lilly the way to the kitchen? Our cook seemed to bake a berry tart."
Henry immediately stood. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" He reached out his hand to Lilly. "Come on, Lilly! Let's go to the kitchen."
They walked to the kitchen hand-in-hand. The adults could still hear their chit-chat.
"I went to the kitchen earlier, but I didn't see the berry tart," Lilly said.
"My father has never lied. If he says so, it means he knows our cook prepared the berry tart."
"I didn't say your father lied. Wait a minute! I'm your mother's sister. How old are you?"
"I'm eleven, and you?"
Lilly lifted her chin higher. "I'm twelve."
