Imelda stared at John and Sophia. John glanced at Sophia as if he didn't want to look elsewhere. Sophia blushed and shyly smiled as she looked everywhere except in John's direction.
Imelda giggled and shook her head. "Both of you remind me of when Ryan and I were still young." Then she touched her chin. "Can I ask your father to come here for dinner, John?"
"Certainly, Ma. Why not?"
Imelda nodded. "I'm sure he will be happy to meet his new daughter-in-law. But I won't tell him first. He will think only four of us have dinner together."
Sophia glanced at John. "Can I have a shower first? I want to look neat when I meet your father."
John stood and approached Sophia. He offered his hand, which she accepted. "Ma, I will show Sophia the bathroom first. I'll be right back."
"Take your time." Then Imelda remembered something. "Sophia, do you bring some clothes with you? I can borrow mine."
