Chapter 3 - Pale Blood

Even though Klyn was baffled to know that there still were pure blooded vampires alive, he first had to sort out his situation and worry about the rest later. Regaining his former power was his top priority. Because right now Klyn's magical power was equivalent to that of a cup of water. He could only use external magical particles to cast spells, which took a very long time to process.

"ቀቐለመረቐገ" as Klyn started incantating the spell, he then lifted his hands and slowly closed his eyes. Momentarily, many light red magical particles started flowing in a circular manner around him. Slowly and steadily more and more magical particles starts gathering around him, making the circle much denser and brighter.

Finally, Klyn uttered one word

"Search"

Just upon uttering a single word all the magical particles around him burst out and scattered into every direction.

After a couple of minutes Klyn finally opened his eyes.

'From what I could sense the whole city felt like a spiny bed of superimposed structures. The city is not that big in itself but the interconnectivity of roads and the looping shortcuts are a tad suspicious. As why would someone try to make a city as complex as this, it was not a mistake but an intentional choice.' Klyn thought.

Suddenly Klyn heard some voices coming across the alleyway. Although they were indistinct to normal ears but from a vampire's heightened senses, he could hear everything crystal clear.

"Hah hah hah... A night of curses, a night to remember! Wouldn't you say that, friend?"

"Bless us with blood... Bless us with blood..."

All of it sounded like a mob nearby, chanting these phrases again and again.

Klyn immediately realized that the way people are chanting and saying things I should be very wary of them. He knew that he didn't have enough strength to fight against that many people. He needed time and blood to slowly regain his powers. So, he decided to wait for the mob to go away.

After some time when all the voices disappeared, He slowly made his way out of the alleyway.

Just as he took one step out the dark alleyway and laid is eyes on his surroundings. He realized that no matter what place or city he was in, it was in the same world where he came from (or so he thought).

The city he was in had a very gothic and late 19th century Victorian architecture like of those old European cities. The road appeared rather grim and decadent with not a single person in sight.

The grey mud-colored clouds covering the night sky were giving the whole city an ominous feel. The moonlight and street lamps were the only things that was preventing the city from becoming pitch black.

11:36, 25th December, 3056, M.A.D.C, SECTOR-5, OMEN

In a large room, filled with high tech and futuristic machines operated by many individuals. An ear bleeding red alarm starts echoing through out the whole room. One of the many individuals run out in a hurry with grim and scared look at his face after seeing what actually caused the alarm. Running through a long corridor, and making his way by pushing anyone standing in his path and sweating buckets while running.

He finally arrives at a door, a futuristic looking white door made out of a weird unknown metal/material. The man quickly pulls out his I.D and puts it on the scanner to open the door. As the door opens the man quickly ran inside and shouts at top of his lungs.

"S....sir Fredrik, a magic anomaly of arcane five just got detected in Skofn city"

A man seated inside the room on the chair in front of his desk which resembled the same futuristic tech from outside got up from his seat in pure awe.

The man appeared to be in his late twenties and was donned a black garb with trousers and gloves.

"What? we haven't received any report about a magician going in Skofn city. And there were supposed to be restrictions around the whole city to stop anyone from entering and exiting the city" Fredrik shouted.

"Sir, according to the report, the magic was activated around the vicinity of the clinic. There's no one who can enter this deep inside Skofn city alone"

"What..... Around that clinic of all places" Fredrik grinds his teeth in anger while saying these words. "Now, don't just stand there and quickly report this to the association"

"Y....Yes, sir"

11:50, Skofn city

Because of the search spell, Klyn got a gist about the city's map. And according to it, the only place that looked safe, was a large building just in the center of the city. Luckily Klyn was very near to it. The whole building resembles the design of a hospital with many rooms, windows and doors. But looking at it, it was really worn down due to neglecting of proper maintenance and cleaning.

Klyn slowly and steadily makes his way to the main entrance of the building while keenly looking and overseeing the infrastructure of the city.

The main entrance of the building was a big circular dead garden with dried out plants, trees and most surprisingly, gravestones. Klyn entered in the garden by opening the big metallic door with fences all around it covering the whole boundary of the garden.

By opening the wooden door just across the garden. Klyn finally set his foot inside the building. As he suspected, the building was really a clinic with stretchers lying vacant all around the place. The insides of the clinic were pitch black because of no light source in sight, but having heightened senses really showed its value to Klyn because he could see somewhat clearly instead of nothing in the darkness.

STOMP!

Klyn mildly twisted his neck in the direction of the sound upon hearing it.

STOMP! STOMP!

'These are definitely footsteps, but heavy, and weird. Not a human for sure but more, like a dog, a very big dog.' Klyn deduced while slowly making his way towards the sound.

As he slowly approaches the source of the sound, he heard a low gurgly growl and the same stomping footsteps getting louder by the second.

Just upon hearing the growl Klyn instinct quickly kicks in and he immediately ups his guard to get ready for any unexpected thing to happen.

As he slowly and carefully moved forward, Klyn's eyeball instantly looked towards his right. Because of having so much fighting experience, Klyn's instinct of sensing and reading attacks were sharp as a blade. As he sensed the attack and immediately took a leap backward barely evading it.

The blood came dripping down from his chest and three cleanly cut pieces of cloth fell down from his shirt.

"Three clean sharp cuts made at the same time, good thing it only grazed me. Are those blades, no claws" Klyn said while touching his wounds and slowly shifting his blood red gaze towards the one who attacked him.
