Was that a dream? It felt all too real for her to be a dream. A lucid dream? Possibly. Her questions are endless, but only one answer. An unknown one at that.
But when she woke up, she could sense the person from her dream. He's somewhere in the Human world, a place she's not allowed to go to. She needs a distraction from her family…
And as luck or fate would have it, a majority of the family had left to begin their journey in a dimension that the Guild asked them to scout out.
She didn't hesitate one bit to get out of the castle that houses her and begin her journey to find where this man is. She went several countries before landing in Eyon and knew she was in the right place. She sensed him and his presence grew stronger as she followed.
To blend in for this occasion, she wore Human clothing and her regular contacts that made her irises brown instead of their original snow white color. A café stood between her and her target, and she entered.
"Hello, welcome in." A young man spoke loud and clear as he cleans a dirty table.
Her heart skipped a beat when he looks up from cleaning and their eyes meet. It was him. The man she sought after was standing before her and his overwhelming presence made her choke up.
"I'll take your order down after I'll clean this table. Just let me know when you're ready," Katsuki informs her as he continues cleaning.
But when he looked up again, she was gone...
In just a snap of a finger, she was back at the Eternelle Castle, thanks to the necklace issued to her and her family by the Guild. Her heart raced as she jumps into her bed, "That was him! Why didn't I say something!?"
She debated on whether or not to tell her father about Katsuki, but decided not to. Instead, she decided that she will be "discreet" about it. By that she means something along the lines of, "What would you do if there was an Antarctican out there besides us?"
When her family came back, that was her question during dinner. Her family threw daggers in their eyes at Camilla, but her father spared her from that fate with his eyes. His were more concerned. He answered that he wouldn't really know what to do and she shouldn't worry about questions like that because it is a waste of time. Then after his serious response, he jokingly called her crazy.
That night, Camilla couldn't sleep. All she could think about is Katsuki and why he is living as a Human. Who could she talk to about this? It couldn't be a Slayer or Junior. Definitely not a Warden. So, who?
A long, bright red string forms in her room and leads outside a window. Camilla couldn't believe her eyes and mumbled under her breath, "You're here…"
She got out of bed and followed the red string to the window where she stuck her head outside to see the stars and sky. The string dances around in the night sky and she grabs onto the red string without hesitation.
The red string tugged her across space and time to bring her to an entrance of a cavern perched above the sky.
The red string forms again and enters the dark cave. Camilla follows the string with no hesitation. The red string leads her deeper into the dark cave, lighting up the darkness the entire way.
Camilla eventually came to a room that is lit up by candles and a woman, slightly older than Camilla, sitting on a make shift throne made of stone covered by a wool blanket.
"I knew it was you, Sister." Camilla smiles as she steps forward. Camilla realizes that her sister has not aged one bit and remains the same since the last time she saw her… 15 years ago.
"I've been watching you, Camilla. Why did you go to the Human world and meet a Human?" The woman says as she turns to Camilla, blindfolded.
The woman before Camilla wears a blindfold and black lines that run down her face that resemble tear streaks. The tattered robes and relaxed position she is sitting in reminds Camilla of a person who has no sense of manners.
Camilla is caught by surprise, but she feels a sense of opportunity to talk to someone, "Wait, you saw that!? I can explain!"
"No need. Earlier I was looking at threads when I saw yours change quite a bit. It definitely resembled romance. So, tell me, who is your lover, Camilla?" The woman leans forward with a bit of a grin on her face.
"I—he's not—! That's not why I went!" Camilla whines.
"Hmm? Okay, tell me," She continues to keep her playful tone.
"I had a dream and he was in it. He was protecting me and next thing I know I woke up. Not only did I wake up, but I sensed him. It was like how I can sense our family, but way stronger. He's Antarctican, Sister."
The cave fell silent. Not even the air is audible.
The woman's face switches from playful and teasing tone to a more serious tone, "Antarctican?" She knows there is no surviving Antarctican in the world. It's impossible.
"Father called me crazy for thinking there could be another Antarctican out there. But I know what I'm feeling! I can sense him right now! You have to believe me!" Camilla pleaded to the woman to believe her.
"Then why couldn't I see his thread…?" Her voice soft, but having a hint of fear.
Camilla crosses her arms, "I don't know, but I can't let the Guild find about him."
The woman sighs, "Hah… Reckless as always, Camilla," a smile creeps on her face, "I'll help you in your romance."
"It's not—!" Camilla stomps her foot.
"Haha! You're so adorable when you're mad. But seriously, I want to help. This "anomaly" intrigues me… I want to know everything about him…"
A dog watches Camilla and her sister leaving the cavern, "Erm, Mistress, where are you going?" The dog's bark was translated instantly.
She didn't mean to ignore the dog's question, but she was too focused repeating one thing, "No one can hide their destiny from me. All pages of destiny are open to me..."
The following hours, Mistress and Camilla have been keeping a close eye on Katsuki before and after the invasion of Eyon and kept notes of everything.
During his stay in the hospital, Mistress snuck into his room late at night and used a technique that would allow her enough time to have him to herself. Upon approaching and inspecting his features while he slept, she grew more curious as to who he is. It was that night that she and Camilla would come up with the idea to enter the Junior Exam since a Slayer was already becoming more closer to him. Camilla could watch him fight, grow, and help Emilia keep his secret while Mistress could research him like a lab rat.
And just like that, the two sisters that rarely see each other became Slayer and Junior.
At the start of the Junior Exam…
Mistress is sprinting through the forest, breathing heavily.
"She's right there!" A voice exclaimed from a distance not too far from where she is.
"I see her!" Another voice confirmed their sighting of her as well.
An older man and woman stop dead in their tracks, scanning their surroundings.
"You go right. I'll go left." The older man instructed and they took their leave.
Mistress peeks out from behind a tree, sighing, "Can I just be left alone for a few seconds!?"
During the rest of her time, she was left alone…. Thanks to a technique of hers.
But she got what she wanted. Mistress was able to witness Katsuki and August's first encounter with Killian.
Wanting to see more out of Katsuki, she uses a technique that almost backfired. Her technique changed Soloro's destiny to run into Killian and create a temporary bond. She calls it a "an encounter by destiny" and this is what led to the following events after.
What she didn't expect was that Killian would go so far as to lift a huge chunk of the ground into the air where it could drop on everyone below, including her. But she still didn't want to change anything. She wanted to know if Katsuki could change Killian's destiny and everyone else's destiny below them. And he did.
She sat in silence as she tried to accept the fact that Katsuki just might be able to change the destiny of those around him by simply him being around. But she still couldn't see his destiny…
FLOOR 2/100, DAY ONE, 236 REMAINING
Katsuki and August went through the exit and entered the 2nd floor. Everything changed from a forest to a city, more specifically, a Victorian era city. It was a cloudless night with a full moon lighting up the night. The lamps lit the night city and the view from where they are standing is incredible. They stand on a rooftop of a café that is as tall as the other nearby buildings and a clock tower that stands out from the rest.
"Wow… This looks exactly like the ancient cities I saw in high school," Katsuki gasps and is enamored by the view they have.
"High school?" August tilts his head.
"You don't know what high school is?" Katsuki whipped his head to give August a confused look.
"We never went to school."
"Oh…" Katsuki then clears his throat, "Well, a little history lesson then. During the development of the ancient cities, Humans reached a point in time where technology and culture advanced greatly and this was the golden age, sort of. Only thing is that there were more people…" Katsuki's voice wavering with intrigue to the mystery of the missing population.
"Oh. That sounds interesting. I wonder what they looked like…"
Despite August being more of the "brains" of the group, he didn't realize a significant missing detail of this city which would've taken Katsuki a moment to see. But Katsuki noticed it first.
Didn't other participants go through the portal before them? There was no hint of any Essence in this floor that Katsuki could sense.
"Hey, August, didn't other people come to the second floor besides us?"
August snapped out of this trance of unlimited questions about the ancient city and high school to answer Katsuki's question, "Oh—uh, yes."
Rowan took over for August, "Good observation, cat!"
"What does that even mean!?" Katsuki raised his voice.
"Well, your name begins with cat…"
Katsuki's ear seemingly twitches at the noise of stomping and labored breathing. He turns to the direction of where the stomping and breathing is to see buildings in the distance crumbling down.
"What is that?" Katsuki walks to the edge of the rooftop and peers over the edge.
"What you looking for?" Rowan follows suit.
The building begins to shake and the stomping grew more louder to the point where even Rowan can hear it.
Suddenly, a dragon's head peaks over a building from a distance to stare directly at Rowan and Katsuki.
"What the fuck is that!?" Rowan shouts.
The dragon's head is missing eyes and in place of the eyes is an acidic green liquid. The scales were decayed and charred, giving an almost skeletal appearance. The black, razor sharp teeth also seem decayed and had holes.
It was as if the dragon wasn't even a dragon. It looks more like an… Undead dragon.
