Dongguan, China
"Either you marry him or get out of my house," the old man of the Bai family, Bai Wenqi, yelled at his young granddaughter. He was one of the ten wealthiest men in China. The Bai family was extraordinary; they occupied three out of seven places on the list.
Bai Dongmei's mother, Bai Shouyi, ranked first among the wealthiest women, her father, Bai Qi, ranked second, and her grandfather ranked first in the ranking of men.
It doesn't end here; Her little six-year-old brother ranks first as the wealthiest child in china. However, Bai Dongmei should be the most affluent young lady. But to our disappointment, she wasn't.
Other than her family and relatives, only the Lin family and the servants knew her existence. It is the 21st Century, but she has never stepped out of her colossal Mansion, which was so big that it takes a vehicle to travel from one place to another and, Three days to visit every corner.
Bai Wenqi saw his granddaughter shivering while kneeling on the tiled floor, but he showed her no mercy, and annoyed by her silence, he screamed at her again, "I will take this silence as a yes!"
He turned to leave from the main hall, decorated with the finest quality of couches and all sorts of elegant vases and the latest technological gadgets.
How can it be not? Her mother led a company of luxurious furniture company, and her father was a tech giant. His creations were quite in demand in the international market. However, She was no match for them.
Bai Dongmei grabbed her grandfather's feet and looked into his eyes, pleading, "I will do what you say. Please don't oust me."
"I have never been outside of this Mansion. I will not even survive a day out there," she looked pitiful.
Tears flowed down her chubby fair cheeks as she knew the person who made her timid was nobody but her dear grandfather standing before her. She was helpless as his audacity to threaten her was more confident than she was in her stubbornness.
A smile full of viciousness spread on his wrinkled yet healthy, handsome face. He was looking at his young little granddaughter as a key to fulfilling his friend's last wish.
He clapped his hands, and seven maidservants came with quick and hurried steps. They lined up before him and behind Dongmei.
Their dress was long black gowns, and The maids tied their hair in a perfect bun. She had never seen them before and wiped her tears as she accepted her horrible fate. Then, Wenqi asked, "Will you stand up to greet them?"
Dongmei nodded, slowly rose, and stood beside him as she checked every one of them, their faces were quite similar to each other, She was waiting impatiently for her grandfather to introduce them. Wenqi, to her surprise, did not speak but sat down on the massage chair and closed his eyes.
Not knowing what to say, she stood there awkwardly. Finally, one of the maidservants noticed this and broke the ice, "My lady, We, seven maidservants, have been sent here to serve you until you step into our Master's bedroom after the wedding."
Another maidservant beside her took out her phone and started reading some instructions which Lin's Family may have given.
'Miss Bai, You must dress in traditional Hanfu, which the Lin Family will send.'
'Mr. Lin would appreciate it if you match the dress with the jewelry set gifted to you by him.'
'If it suits your taste, apply some citrus scent Mr. Lin likes using himself.'
'The wedding is in three days, So you shouldn't run around and avoid revealing your bride-to-be beauty to strangers.'
'You are restricted to eating certain foods___.'
Dongmei burst into laughter, followed by tears of pain, "What did you say?"
"Excuse me pardon??
Wedding in three days?
Apply citrus perfume?
The beauty of bride-to-be?
Restricted to eat?"
The maidservant was dumbfounded and said, "Only certain foods, which may harm your body, like Oily foods."
Dongmei looked at her grandfather, who did not care to open his eyes at any condition. However, he seemed to have lightened up after making his granddaughter forcefully agree to marry his friend's grandson.
Dongmei looked at the golden opportunity, dodged the maidservants before her, and ran straight to her room.
The door was closed with a loud bang sound which disturbed her grandfather. However, he refused to open his eyes.
She was leaving the maidservants with no choice but to follow their future Madam for instruction. They did not knock on the black wooden eight feet long door but stood patiently.
Dongmei melted on the floor as she double-checked the lock, Her heartbeat increased as she had just run up several stairs, but as she calmed herself, she felt like she was sinking in the black sea.
"Isn't it the same as that drama 'Sword and the brocade?' I heard my mother telling me while I was asleep that Mr. Lin is eleven years older than me."
"But what if he is not like Xu Ling Yi? Not at all; I am not that smart like Shi Yi. I can't get rid of his mistresses if he has one."
The tears flowed like a river as she tried to comfort herself by imagining good things. However, No affirmation worked for her restless heart. Even her brain kept refusing the idea of marrying a man she had never met before.
After a few hours passed, mourning her fate, Dongmei washed her face and opened the door to find the maidservants still standing like military officers. She was startled to see their honesty and commitment.
"You all were standing here? For how long?" She asked as her lips fluttered like leaves.
"Since you went inside the last time."
Dongmei felt guilty for not showing consideration to the maidservants. Her heart ripped apart as one of them stepped out and whispered in her ears, "Miss Bai, I know you are unwilling to marry our master. If anything happens to you, we might lose our lives."
Dongmei numbed her legs and she was again falling to the floor as they all hurried to carry her inside. Her eyes were wide open as she spoke nothing. They all stood beside her like soldiers attending their general.
One of them pinched the maidservant who had whispered and caused her to be like that, "What did you say to her? why is she like this now?"
"If anything happens to her, we are done." Another one said as her shoulder felt the heaviness of the situation.
