Mallory was aware that his mate was still getting over the fact that they might lose Jacob, as they had lost Olivera, but he believed that talking about it might help her get over the impending loss quickly. Jacob wasn't their son. They had just been caretakers, and they had failed in that duty twice. They won't fail the third time.
