Chapter 15 - The Report II

"Why did you take the slave girl to Mark's house, Nick; knowing his unacceptance of them?" Seth asked, as his eyes darted from the doctor to the girl behind him, holding himself from pushing the doctor out of the way so that he could covet the girl.

"I took her because I needed her aid in the healing process. His son is besotted with the plague already. I had believed that he would be bothered about the wellbeing of his son, not the unworthiness of a slave. Seems, I was wrong. His hatred for the young girl outlasted that of the concern for his son. So disgusting." Nick answered, his voice seasoned with anger, his lips turned up in contempt and disgust for the ungrateful fellow.

Seth suspired as he heard the words of the Pack's doctor.

He knew that no matter how hard he wanted to snatch the slave girl away from him right now, he couldn't. The man had some valid points.

Although, he didn't know the feelings associated with having a son or daughter, he believed that if he had been in Mark's position, he would have been concerned about his son plagued with the deadly virus, rather than a mere slave.

The plague was a paramount issue in the pack. It occurred yearly, around this time. And sadly, no one who had suffered from it ever survived. Some rumours had been going on that the Alpha was responsible for it. He wasn't sure though, but since he had always made sure that the culprits were given the silver-ladened punishment which almost made them dumb for life, the rumours had subsided.

So, hadn't the severity of the plague disturbed the man rather than the presence of a slave?

But that didn't discount the fact that he would still report this particular issue to the Alpha, in case the doctor wanted to retain the girl as his apprentice fully. No one owned the slaves personally, they belonged collectively to the pack, to answer at their beck and call. He would also love to have a taste of the girl, especially her boobs which were too big to be hidden in the upper confines of the short dress.

"Mark, do you have anything to say?" He asked the man who was suddenly burrowing invisible holes into the doctor's forehead with his anger filled eyes.

"No." Mark murmured, vowing within himself to deal with the slave girl later. She had caused a great shame to befall him. Punishment too. He knew that Seth wouldn't let him go just like that. He might run 50 laps around the Pack's large training grounds.

"Take him away." Seth gestured to the other guys with him, who nodded, before walking away with Mark who left willingly with them.

"I hope you're not planning to colonize her?" He asked, after some beats, staring down at the doctor who met his gaze steadily.

"And if I want to?" Nick questioned, folding his arms across his chest, daring to see the worst of the gamma.

"You can't. The Alpha wouldn't want that." Seth answered calmly, even though the anger burning within him could fry out an entire community.

"Well, I will have to wait to speak to him then." Nick mentioned.

"Now if you will excuse me, I have somewhere else to be. Olivera, let's go." He commanded, turning aside to nudge a shivering Olivera forward.

"See you later then." Seth implored, his eyes appraising the slave girl who appealed to his sexual desires as she walked timidly with the doctor away from him.

He will have her sooner than later.

Jeremy wiped off beads of sweat from his head, inhaling and exhaling intermittently as he stood erect, glaring at the remaining heap of sand he had to mold into bricks before the day ran out.

He was so tired, and it wasn't even noon yet.

He looked around him, and suddenly felt pity for those whose hands and legs had been decorated with silvery bracelets.

How the hell were they able to cope with the work and the pain?

Wouldn't they lose their wolf at this rate?

"You should be focusing on your work, and not checking out the others. Did the taskmaster tell you that you have to finish this heap today?"

He heard a voice ask from behind, and turned immediately, a bit relieved when he saw that the voice belonged to a y'all guy with blonde hair, who most likely, belonged to his age grade. A prisoner too, but luckily without the bracelets.

"I was just trying to regain some sanity. This work is too laborious, even with our wolfs. What are we really building? Do you have any idea?" He asked the stranger who looked friendly at least.

"No. They never told us. We are just... molding bricks." The guy replied, looking around the field too.

" Do you know any of them?" He asked, referring to those who were punished with the silvery bracelets. They were all confined to the other end of the field. And it seemed to him, that they were doing more work than he.

"Not really. But I have heard rumours from the other prisoners that they are very strong wolves. And that one is even an Alpha." The guy said, or rather whispered, as if afraid someone else closeby might be listening.

"An Alpha? Is that even possible?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Definitely." The new guy replied.

A bell rang out at the entrance of the field.

Jeremy turned aside to see a tall woman holding a large bell.

"What's that for?" He asked.

"Lunch." The new guy replied, and started walking away.

"Wait!" Jeremy called, gesturing with his hand that the guy should wait up for him.

It wouldn't be bad to make a new friend.

"My name is Jeremy." He said, as he got to the guy who had halted in his movement at his call.

"I'm Lyon." The guy replied with a short smile.
