Chapter 65 - Consequences of prior stupor

I heaved in air as I awoke I felt a fire next to me and I was in a sleeping bag made of fine material.

Opening my eyes I saw a starry sky with a crescent moon and around me were the men and women of Serothor trying to reattach wheels onto the makeshift boats.

The feeling of stress leaving my body hit me and caused a deep breath to leave my lungs.

I actually did it! And judging by my surroundings it went well enough that I'm being taken care of.

It didn't really matter now as all we had to do was go to Traunist and gather up some supplies... oh no.

I felt a itch in my throat and yelled.

"FUCK YOU OZ!"

I was suddenly bombarded by people rushing towards me and asking me if I was okay.

In particular kyle was hugging me rather tightly, he looked horrible and run down though I guess everyone did being stuck in that mine for so long.

I cleared my throat and kyle backed away, after greeting everyone I spoke to kyle directly.

"Kyle there is an important mission you have to do for me"

Kyle's eyes lit up and he spoke.

"What is it?

I took a breathe and began.

"You must wear clothes without any Serothor symbols then enter Traunist with the money we brought and then buy enough food provisions for at least the trip back.

Remember that more people will be joining us so you must account for them, also you must find at least one additional carriage, that way the weaker or injured citizens can rest"

Kyle nodded and spoke.

"I will go first thing this morning"

I then asked a few questions.

"Kyle I also want a report on where we are, how many citizens are joining us and if everyone made it here safely"

Kyle then spoke answering each question.

"Aye, once we escaped we gathered everyone and searched up and down the river for any stragglers, everyone from Serothor is accounted for.

We are just out of view from Traunist as we are banished but the imperial army is stationed there along with a majority of the refugees.

A total of 517 refugees decided to come with us to Serothor 105 children and young teenagers, 142 older boys and men and 270 older girls and women, making the number of our group total to 2516."

I nodded it was definitely a reasonable number of people we saved more than that but since most of them probably decided to either resettle in Traunist or go further away the number makes sense.

Kyle caught me up on a few more things then he left to attend to hid duties and let me get some rest.

I got up and walked around our camp the possessed girl was still unconscious and the morale was generally pretty good.

I looked in the direction of the city of fire and sighed Traunist would be where the empire stands it's ground, with the defense of the empire together with the funding from merchant guilds it will become a very big and influential stronghold.

As the Iron empire controls the fire city and the areas south of it there was only one more event before Serothor becomes locked between all three nations.

Luckily that event was a while away, the surrounding kingdoms and states provide plenty of a buffer to the iron empire and the priestdom of Joryac.

I walked back to my sleeping back and layed down then almost as if I hadn't slept at all it was morning.

I sighed and got up and made sure kyle had left, sure enough he was gone along with the reserve money I brought.

Suddenly I heard an annoying voice.

"So when exactly are you going to stop either nearly dying or passing out every few days?"

I hid my thoughts for a moment before speaking back.

"Whenever you stop being a condescending prick, don't you have teleportation or other spells to be working on?"

Oz replied using my mouth, only I never gave him permission.

"Oh well that teleporting spell is complete now, along with a few others that you need not concern yourself with"

I quivered in shock and nearly yelled in my mind.

"Aahhsjdueudneidjneiei"

I heard Oz laughing and he spoke.

"Don't worry I won't need to do that often, you have been under constant mental and physical strain I just studied how your soul reacted and so now I have a little more control.

You could probably force me to not do stop unless you are at deaths door, I also think you utilise my body pretty well so I have no need whatsoever to take control unless you act stupid"

I took a moment to process what Oz had said and then calmed myself down and asked a question.

"You've already perfected the teleportation spell?"

Oz shook our head and spoke.

"Not quite I merely adjusted the ritual as ordinarily space magic requires the use of souls or blood, but I took inspiration from your little aura trick.

Good news is teleporting won't basically kill you if you happen to do it, bad news is you need at least three people with red aura to teleport one person safely, otherwise the magic circle with drain a person of their aura, in effect killing them"

I nodded so the idea of solo teleportation is out of the picture however as Serothor is filled with aura users we could easily sent a small group anywhere.

I asked Oz another question.

"Is it possible to make it so that one person is enough?"

Oz shook our head again and spoke.

"You could make it equal, so if three people had orange aura they could all teleport together but the main issue is the burden on the soul even a dragon would be impacted if they tried it solo.

The only reason you survived was because of me repairing damage and the healing power within the inner sanctum of Velor"

I nodded it all made sense, then I heard a commotion in the direction of Traunist.

So looking towards Traunist I saw at least 30 carriages being pulled by serothor's soldiers and kyle at the front.

I took a breathe and spoke under my breathe.

"But... I said one additional carriage..."
