The tent was already filled with injured and displaced people despite the war only just beginning I spoke loud enough for all my healing squad and soldiers helping out.
"Only use magic if you have to put those with severe injuries up the back of the tent and those with mild injuries at the front we will get to everyone work from back to front.
In a few moments the inside of the tent changed that is the benefit of having well trained soldiers I guess.
I wasn't a really qualified to treat these injuries I was always more of a triage and emergency nurse not a fucking army medic.
Nonetheless I got straight into it first I dipped my hands in very expensive distilled alcohol that we brought in Traunist then I got to work treating people.
I wasn't a doctor but I knew the theory and what to do for most common injuries I started by treating simple injuries while my healers healed the severe ones that way I could make room for more severe patients in the tent.
Re-adjusting and splints were first aid and paramedicine basics, we didn't have anything to treat burns other than healing magic but I at least knew the spell.
I was breezing through the people with simple injuries from cuts to broken bones I was able to do enough to at least stabilize and reduce injuries.
I wasn't a surgeon so with some injuries just casting a spell a few times is the best we could do.
I noticed an influx of native people from the city slowly but surely building up outside and inside the tent I had some of my soldiers convey my message to them.
Basically it's about how the city state of Serothor is not here as an invading force in this battle we are just here to minimise casualties.
It was also about how they are free to leave at their discretion and return home but if they wished they could shelter in the city of Serothor.
It wasn't anything crazy I did feel bad for them offering them asylum was the absolute bare minimum I could do.
I was stitching a man's arm up it wasn't that bad but if it wasn't stitched it would probably get badly infected or keep bleeding for a while.
The man was obviously part of the empire's forces and he started talking to me.
"Damn the monarchy and military officials what's happening here is nothing short of slaughter and they don't even bother leaving their castle or field tent"
I was almost done and I asked him a question.
"Did you lose someone?"
He nodded and spoke.
"Yeah my squad captain got taken out by a few native residents"
I nodded and spoke.
"Oh I see, say... what do you think of me?
He looked at me confused and spoke.
"What do you mean? I have nothing against healers and medics"
I shook my head and spoke.
"Oh well I'm a prince and I was just in the field tent a while ago"
The man burst out into laughter but he went quiet once I finished his stitches and I spoke.
"You are pretty right those guys In the field tent have no clue but don't make general statements about people it's not a good idea what would happen if I was a noble from the empire?"
He trembled a bit stood up and bowed as he spoke.
"I am so sorry I have nothing against the Serothor royal family please forgive me!"
I waved my hand and spoke before heading to my next patient.
"It's fine as I said don't lump us all in together it hurts when some of us are actually trying"
With the bodies slowly piling up I noticed that it almost sunset so I ordered some soldiers to collect the "keepsakes" of the soldiers every imperial soldier had a keepsake and letter.
With that I had all the severely injured relocated back to the mine and packed up the tent making sure to have the soldiers guard the retreat along with the original citizens of the city.
I gave a Serothonian soldier named Jacob a letter to give to the third general in that letter it explained how I am taking the refugees under my protection and also a recommendation to withdraw.
Whether he listened or not doesn't matter anymore, once I made sure everything was on track I knew it was time for me to do something.
The rescue squads still hadn't returned yet so I am going to go get them and save as many people as possible.
I put on my water amulet and walked towards the city I only really had one chance I have to make an an entrance then get in and out really quick.
I have to assert Serothor's strength with some sort of display then get my people out of there.
Once I reach the broken walls of the city I took a breathe, I had been practicing this for a while.
Activating my bloodline I made as much thread as possible more than I had ever made before then I manipulated it into words.
The message could be seen in the sky above the city.
[Serothor is here]
It wasn't just an announcement it was a signal for my soldiers to make their location apparent or if possible to flee themselves.
It was exhausting but only the beginning, I called almost all that thread back to myself and made the rest look like a horse.
Honestly I am surprised with how I managed to come up with this idea I hopped on the horse made of thread and entered the city.
Just because it's exhausting doesn't mean it isn't cool as fuck.
