Chapter 29 - the not so grand arrival

Today would be the day we would be arriving at the capital by noon I had so much to do once we reached it firstly I need to find a way to accustom my body to its new power levels.

Next and more importantly I need to give the empire Serothor's weapon designs to formalise our contract.

Additionally I need to check how the original storyline is and prove to the emperor I can see the future which should be easier with my new bloodline.

Infact if I tell him his fortune or something like that I will be guaranteeing my position and importance.

Elise was currently sleeping her red hair was messy and dishevelled we were nearly to the capital so I woke her up by shaking her shoulder.

I told her to brush her hair she was already wearing some light padded leather armour with Serothor's army symbol on it so she just needed to do her hair.

Soon the walls of the city came into view I checked my suit to make sure I was neat then returned eyes to the walls.

Serothor's city walls were 6 metres tall but in comparison the empire's capital had 20 metre tall walls that were the width of a small house.

infact the wall could even repair itself ten times over and was made of reinforced stone with black iron mixed in.

There was only one gate and that meant only one entrance it was made to withstand months of sieges if necessary with giant crossbows and arrow slits.

The ambrosia fields were prominent with it growing wild and free not a tree or other plant to be found the twilight citadel casted a shadow that covered such a large portion it blocked out the noon sun for 15 metres around itself.

I was more ready than I had ever been to arrive somewhere there was a line of carriages entering and exiting the citadel.

We joined the line and it took half an hour to finally get to the gate where we were met by a group of armoured men.

They wear in heavy plate armour with complex magical runes and the largest of the guards approached us and started speaking.

"What is your business entering the citadel?"

I had already exited the inside of the carriage and was sitting in the driver's seat with Aaron so I replied.

"I am here as a representative of the city state of Serothor I was summoned to fulfill my side of the alliance contract"

The man looked at me and spoke.

"I think you are lying according to the ledger the representative is meant to be a royal but you look like a commoner your hair is black and eyes are a dull green whereas royalty is known to have beautiful and exotic features"

I spoke back to the guard explaining that not all royalty looked the same.

"kind sir I AM the second prince of Serothor and a royal I am not related to the imperial family our bloodlines have never crossed so we do not look the same"

The guard let out a sigh and spoke.

"Listen here I have already met the representative of Serothor and he is on the way to meet the emperor now"

My mind broke for a second then I spoke.

"Excuse me but I am the representative of Serothor that man is an imposter you must warn the emperor!"

The guard snapped back at me.

"Shut up! you're lucky I'm not executing you here turn back now!"

I signalled Aaron to turn back this was bad but there was a way in... through the sewers then over the roof tops and through a secret passage into the castle.

I told Elise, Aaron and Eren to wait and I went around to the back of the citadel and there it was a small stream of murky water coming through a small opening in the wall only big enough for a single person.

I took my last breath of fresh air and started crawling through the small tunnel getting drenched in waste ruining the brand new suit my father had made for me.

After a small while I found myself in a small cavern like area where I could only just see thanks to some illuminated mushrooms it was the city sewers I climbed out of the small stream and onto the sidewalk area.

The smell was horrible and if I stayed too long I would slowly suffocate due to the lack of oxygen but I rushed forward covering my mouth with a piece of cloth.

Before long I came across a ladder and I was only just able to reach the opening I activated my aura to push the heavy stone lid off and I climbed out then put the lid back on the entrance.

Story wise I knew exactly where I was but I had no visual reference to go off of looking around I found a reference it was the grand cathedral that meant I was in the upper noble district.

It was pretty easy to tell considering there were mansions and villas all around me I ran around until I found an old dilapidated mansion.

So old that it had no owners and that meant no detection system! I jumped the small fence and climbed up the flower posts to the roof.

This way was much later on in the story and the sewers, roof jumping and secret passage were all different parts.

Alarms rang as I jumped from roof to roof and made a turn right before going near the grand cathedral.

I jumped onto a few more roofs and found myself right next to the tall palace gate luckily the house I was on is much taller.

A very loud alarm rang but I went straight towards the palace until I saw an old iron basement door which just so happened to be unlocked.

Opening the small door iron door I hurried inside and went through a series of vents used for insulation I just hope that I'm not too late.
