Because Mark was still asleep, Alissa didn't disturb Elena's peace. Elena was allowed to do whatever she wanted, and she had all the free will she is allowed to have. Alissa wouldn't allow that for too long, of course. That's because, the moment Mark wakes up, it would be time for Elena to say goodbye to her own body.
