Ashley took a last look of herself in the mirror as she looked down at her black outfit and was adjusting her hair when her phone rang making her frown. She thought it might be Ivan and with excitement, she went to check her phone but to her disappointment, It was not the Ivan. She sighed as she looked at the caller ID.
Sighing she picked up the call and kept it near her ear but when the caller squealed loudly, Ashley chuckled. "Ash, my baby, how are you?"
"Calm down, baby bear. I'm good how are you?" Ashley smiled at her best friend's excited tone.
"Come on, I'm not any baby bear. I'm Dr. Sherin Smith." Her one and only best friend, Sherin said annoyingly pouting to herself.
"Yes Dr. Smith, how are you?" Ashley asked, rolling her eyes, exactly imagining her friend who is sitting on her bed pouting.
"I'm good, Ash. But, just bored as my shift is done. So just thought of checking on you. What are your plans for tonight? Sherin asked from the other side of the call.
"Tonight? I'm going for a business party, Sherin but why don't you just rest? You are just done with your shift. You must be tired." Ashley said feeling sorry for her friend who thought of hanging with her.
"Oh wow. That's great. Where is it?" Sherin asked, surprised totally ignoring about what Ashley just said to her about her resting as she is done with her shift.
"It's in the night club. Why though?" Ashley asked, getting confused.
"Nothing. Just going to tag along with you." Sherin answered grinning and Ashley's eyes rolled out of her sockets not literally.
"It's a business party, Sherin. Not some doctors conference. You will get bored and I just said to you to rest." Ashley said to which Sherin chuckled.
"You know, I am tired. But I want to have a great night with you and you are going to a party. It will actually help me. It's actually been so long since I have been to a party. That's why I'm coming with you and I'm not hearing a no. Send me the location. I will meet you there and then girls night out follows bye... Bye... Bye." Sherin replied and hung up making Ashley sigh.
She stood up from her dressing chair and started going down chuckling to herself thinking about her crazy best friend who was with Ashley until secondary high school. Even though their career routes were different, they didn't lose touch with each other and were best friends for over a decade.
She went out to her garage where a driver was already present there and she asked him to drop by the night club and settle in the car.
She was scrolling through her mobile and the driver started driving the car towards their destination leaving Ashley to drown in her thoughts about Ivan.
Soon, she was at the night club and the driver stopped the car at the entrance. She got out of the car and the driver went to park the car in the parking lot. Her guards followed her and stood behind her.
She sighed at her fate. Even though she is one of the successful businesswomen, she has no freedom and she hates that. But knowing that it's for her own good, she adjusts sometimes.
She was lost in her thoughts when someone tapped her shoulder. That broke her trance and she moved her gaze from oblivion to the person and she was immediately gathered in a bear hug and it made her smile softly.
She hugged her best friend back who squealed happily making Ashley chuckle.
"You look so hot," Sherin said, breaking the hug.
"You look no less." Ashley complimented her.
Sherin adored herself in a black shimmering dress that reached till her mid thighs and her neck was in "v" shape and her hands were sleeveless. With diamond studs and a simple white clutch that fit perfectly to her open blonde hair that are set in curls, she was looking perfect.
"Thank you. You said it's a business party and that's arranged in a club?" Sherin asked, scrunching her face.
Ashley nodded her head and said, "Yeah. But that is not arranged in a club but a banquet hall that is above the club. Let's go we are late already." to which Sherin nodded her head in yes.
The bouncers opened the door and her guards stood outside. Ashley and Sherin entered the club and were welcomed by dark lights and loud music with an alcohol smell that made everyone dizzy.
Both looked around for stairs that are connected to the second floor and found it in the middle of the club just beside the bar counter.
"I will go and grab a drink first." Ashley shouted in Sherin's ear due to the loud music.
"Come fast. I will go to the first floor." Sherin shouted back and Ashley nodded her head before making her way to the bar counter while Sherin made her way to the stairs.
Ashley went to the bar counter and sat on one of the stools there. A bartender came towards her and asked for her order. She ordered her drink and the bartender left to get her order.
She looked around the club and saw few of them were making out at the corners and behind the pillars while some were dancing on the dance floor and few of them were having their drinks and few were just talking to each other sitting on the couches arranged there but everyone are enjoying the company from others.
The bartender came back and she took her drink and thanked him. She was sipping her drink enjoying her own company when one of a man of her age walked towards her and settled on one of the stool beside her.
She shrugged it off as she doesn't at all care about anyone right now and just stared into her mobile but looked up as she felt a strong gaze on her. She found it to be the same man who just sat beside her.
It was clear for her that, He was looking at her with his lust filled eyes and she clenched her fists at the way he was eyeing her.
"I would appreciate it if you keep your eyes to yourself and do the work you came here to or else. I can't guarantee your safety. Ashley warned him, gritting her teeth and he immediately left the place from her sight. She huffed and made her way to the stairs to find her best friend.
She went inside and found nearly hundred people sitting on chairs and some with the person who threw the party. Few were talking to each other and She looked around trying to find her friend. And she found her near a window, staring and talking to a six feet man making Ashley frown and made her way to Sherin.
