'What can I do? Can I do anything?' Ferrin felt his heart going cold, his vision froze, nothing moved. Almost as if waiting for him to make his choice.
'Of course, I can!' Ferrin's eyes lit up, his heart thrashed against his rib-cage as his body morphed into something larger.
The monkeys feet thudded loudly as they ran towards the scattered group members.
Ferrin's cold move had, in-turn, brought him more time.
A few monkeys rapidly ran towards Seilo and Aoci's direction on all four of their limbs, just as they reached them and were about to finish her up, something suddenly appeared in their path while baring its fangs threateningly.
Ferrin's grim look especially dimmed down in the dark night and smacked the nearest monkey away with his short tail before lunging at the others and barraging them away.
After doing away with them for a while, Ferrin shifted his wobbly gaze towards Paul, 'I won't be able to hold on, I will die!'
Ferrin gritted his teeth, forcing his eyes to stay open whilst trying to get a clear view despite the darkness encroaching upon it.
His eyes glowed ominously as he flickered across the monkeys trying to harm Paul, turning them into mincemeat.
As he reappeared, his feet went limp, causing his knees to smack into the ground with a thud.
'Not good...' Ferrin gripped the ground tightly to support himself from completely crashing face-first into it.
He raised his head while sweating as if he had to lift a mountain and peered towards Ficko's direction, Ano was near her as well.
'Will I make it? MovEEE!!!' Ferrin's eyes shot open once more as they burst forth with a new-found light.
His body flickered across the monkeys blocking his path and appeared right in front of Ficko.
Under the dim shadow the moon had cast behind him, only the blood and flesh remained glued to the ground.
"Huff! Haa!" Ferrin collapsed to his feet again, his wide open mouth desperately sucking in air.
He meekly glanced above- at Ano, at her withering self on the ground from the stern lash mark on her face. Her ear-piercing screams jamming up in her throat from the fear of the steps travelling towards her with a soothing giggle, her face drenched up.
'Not good. Move, Ferrin!' Ferrin's legs trembled as he struggled to get up, but his legs gave mid-way and he crashed into the ground.
'I won't make it... right? Really? Am I truly incapable of saving her? Or do I just.... want her to die? Yea... that's... probably__' Something pierced Ferrin's buzzing ears, it was a shrill sound, maybe a scream?
His eyes rose, glancing at Ano as she skidded backwards. Her enlarged eyes trembling from the sight of her bloodied feet.
'Blood...' Ferrin traced back the blood tracks on the ground and landed his eyes upon the monkey licking its claws clean of red delicacy.
'Am I... happy? Or do I wish to save her?' Ferrin's whisper stayed only in his head. His hand dragged itself in Ano's direction, 'No matter, if she dies, that Genius wins... I must... sav__' Ferrin's vision spun, his body, pushing itself up collapsed back onto the cold ground. The mere thought of moving caused his body to shiver.
'Won't... can't...' Ferrin's words tracked off, his eyes dared to close down on the first chance he gave them. Yet he mustered his guts and tried to get up again, 'Hope! Hope Ferrin! Hope like your mother told you too! Everything... will work out!' Ferrin's opened his mouth slightly and smacked it shut, his teeth heavily punched into each other.
Riding on the weak wave of adrenaline, his eyes glowed dimly under the light but before they could reach their usual peak, like the moon had been blanketed, his vision projected only darkness as a sudden pain assaulted his chin before numbness took over.
'Somebody... help her!' Ferrin's mind became a calm ocean, in which the gentle waves carried by a scream- that sounded especially light to him, drilled through him.
'Ficko? Ferrin... GET UP!' His heart throbbed like a rocket setting off, his lifeless arms suddenly gripped the ground in rage, his vison slowly settled back into some clarity allowing him to see the slightly chubby Ficko desperately running towards Ano, whose screams had died down due to the tail clenching her throat.
Despite her countless attempts at clawing herself free, her efforts only turned null as her feet left the ground.
Step-by-step, the monkey holding Ano walked forward, nearing Ano towards the reeling. Neither it, nor the others of its kind paid any heed to Ficko, until she dragged their attention towards herself by smacking heavily into the monkey feeling a little too smug.
"Keek!" The monkey groaned as its face bruised against the hard, solid floor.
"DON'T IGNORE ME! AND DON'T HURT MY FRI__" Ficko's eyes shifted from the monkey and up into the sky, all her sweat seemed to become meaningless as a strange lightness assaulted her.
'What is this?' Ficko wondered as she glanced at the moon, so clear and so bright. Her mind rushed at a horrendous pace in its attempt to comprehend the current situation, her eyes glanced down, at a monkey giggling widely while sweetly... waving its hand.
A smile crept atop Ficko's face, her eyes crystal bright eyes glanced lower, at the vision of the far-away street, 'Well... what can I say?' Her eyes shifted back towards the monkey, her chocking words baffling it momentarily, "Thank you!"
Gravity pulled hard... and she obeyed, leaving only two translucent pearls from her crystal like eyes.
The loud plop brought the monkey back to its feet, still in its stupor, it walked towards the reeling and glanced down... at the mush splattered all over.
Its head tilted slightly to the side, before a giggle escaped his lips and with a bright smile, it directed its malevolent gaze towards the horrified Ano.
"Keke!!??" It tilted its head to the side, its tail making a question mark.
"You..." Ano's eyes quievred under the monkey's gaze. Her feet pushed the ground hard, dragging her away from this monster. She pushed and pushed, until her back collided with something. With a screech, she leapt forward like a dog and glanced back, it was the reeling.
A recent sight played again in her mind, causing her hands to tremble, while making a futile attempt of controlling her shaky body, she stood up on her quacking feet and gazed at the four monkeys drawing near her.
"S-stay... stay away!"
What misery? Her whisper couldn't even reach her ears much less the monkeys who wouldn't even understand in the first place.
"Ke?"
"Kekeke!"
"Kek!"
The monkeys discussed amongst themselves, and after a momentarily argument, one walked forward alone. Leaving the others frozen in their spot.
The monkey stopped some distance from Ano, who found herself against the reeling yet again.
"Don-Don't come! Don't come!" Ano's quaky hands rolled around the reeling, barely fulfilling the formality.
The monkey raised its finger and pointed towards Ano, the mere act causing the poor girl to whimper and squeeze herself further back into the reeling.
"Keke!" Letting out a gleeful laugh, the monkey rushed towards Ano, causing the latter to finally drop her tantrum and let out a ear-piercing scream.
"MOVE!"
Ferrin would've loved to own the voice, but he didn't. His eyes involuntarily shifted towards Paul as he zoomed straight towards her direction and smacked himself heavily into the monkey.
Ferrin had a sense of deja vu, his eyes widened representing his desire to scream out but his throat had gone hoarse and dry.
Paul swifted shot back up to his feet and glanced at the monkey eating dust right now before turning back towards Ano, "SNAP OUT OF IT! ARE YOU MAD GIRL?"
"Keke!" "Kek!" The monkeys burst out in laughter as they pointed towards the monkey incredulously lifting its head and staring left and right.
The moment its eyes rested atop Paul, a nerve struck hard inside it and it jumped to its feet while letting out a growl.
Paul felt his heart cooling down as he stared at the monkey's disgusting teeth, his feet dragged back instinctively. His eyes wandered atop the monkey before landing atop a trembling shadow, his eyes widened slightly as he dragged his eyes towards its owner.
'I never thought... I would be the type to become a hero!' Paul chuckled, before staring the monkey dead in the eye.
As the saliva gulped down his dry throat, his hand clawed forward at the exact instant the monkey dashed towards him.
Before he could blind, a sudden pain assaulted him from the gut and spread out in his body as he felt the ground slip from his feet, but he grinned widely as his hand wrapped around something.
He didn't even realize what it was, but he was happy merely at believing that despite going down, he took one with him. Nothing was more honorable... for a man!
Plop!
The sound caused Ano's numb body to quiver, her face tensed up, her brows furrowed. Her whole body trembled as she shifted her shivering head and peeked below.
Her heart shot slowly through the roof, her grip around the reeling tightened till her knuckles turned white.
"AHHHH!!!"
The monkeys, whose laughter couldn't be hidden despite the shrill scream, suddenly felt their spines tingle.
Eerily cold words, like ice fresh from the north pole, crept atop their ears from behind, causing even their shadows to scream from the pungent cold coated around them and... amusingly, they were words they could understood clearly, "He was... supposed to be my mother's doctor!"
