But just like it was stated earlier, it was all only for a second. Because no matter where they were or what they did, their memories of the past followed them around like a plague. Maria's heart beat wildly in her chest; the pounding escalated with every step she took, and soon she was not sure how much of the suspense she could take. It took every bit of self-control she could muster not to rip his hands off her face and see where she was being led to. But she had to admit it to herself—she was actually excited. Maria liked the suspense, but she hoped it would not last for too long.
