It did not add up.
None of it made sense.
Every man present watched Maria pace back and forth with Martha's corpse lying only a few inches away from her. They were filled with anxiety and dread because they could practically feel Maria's anger, her frustration, and her pain. But the donna did not care about that; her mind was working faster than it ever had, and questions that she knew would never be answered plagued her mind.
Questions like, Why did Martha finally decide to reveal herself after all this time? And why did she give up so easily? She knew that by raising a gun at Maria, Diablo would fire his without a second thought. So why? Was all this suicide? Or just some sick game she wanted to play to pass time?
"Maria-" Diablo stepped forward and wrapped his hand around her arm, but she was quick to detach herself from him.
"Don't touch me!" she snapped. Diablo was shocked to find angry tears in her eyes.
