Maria stepped out of Madeline's room in a pair of grey sweats and a cropped hoodie. Her feet were careful as they went along the marble floor and towards the kitchen. Madeline was sitting on one of the stools, humming to a special tune with her eyes focused on the oven.
"I found these in your drawer. I hope you don't mind me wearing them," Maria said, referring to the clothes on her body.
Madeline's eyes met hers, and she offered Maria a small smile, "No, it's okay. I was actually planning on giving them out because they were too small for me. This pregnancy is making me add a lot of weight, to be honest."
Maria sat down next to her on a stool, and her amber irises joined Madeline's to stare at the oven. Then she said, "But once you give birth, you can always get back in shape."
