Pain.
That was the first thing Maria felt as she slowly returned to the present-day world. It wasn't the pounding pain on her temple as blood continued to ooze out of the gash. No, it was the pain she felt inside as the memory of the past hours came rushing in. She wished she hadn't woken up. She wanted to stay unconscious forever.
When Lorenzo died, the only thing that kept Maria going was her hatred toward Diablo. But that hatred withered away a long time ago and was replaced by something more energizing. Until this moment, Maria wasn't sure what it was.
But whatever it was, it was gone.
leaving her with nothing.
Her eyelids fluttered tiredly before they opened up completely. A groan left her mouth as she attempted to touch the aching part of her head. She raised it, and there was a sound of metal clashing before her hand came to a stop. Her amber eyes fell downward to find her hands bound in chains.
Oh, the deja vu.
