He quickly took a snap of the calculations and ran down the stairs, with the diary hidden in his coat that he was wearing. He had to find the man John Wachowski, and warn him of his upcoming death. That his friends were dead, and he was about to be murdered.
"STEVEN!", he bellowed as he reached the bottom of the stairs, and the door swung open quickly. And there stood Steven, with his gun ready to attack anyone that might be trying to harm him.
"We have to go, NOW!", he barked in an urgent tone, and Steven understood the emergency behind the voice that was speaking. He first needed to warn John, and then go and find the man who was connected to this all, Nguyen Rubel.
"What the hell is this name? Nguyen? Na-goo-yen? Is this how it's pronounced?", he thought out loud. Steven looked at him and cocked his eyebrow, as that was a name he had never heard before, in his undercover days.
"Can you spell it?", he asked. Jack spelled it, and Steven laughed out loud. His laughter rang throughout the car, and Jack was wondering when he would answer his question.
"It's pronounced as Win. I think the person we are looking for might be Vietnamese. They're the only people I know who don't care about any spellings and just spell it however they want. Or maybe, the English language can't interpret their language accurately", he replied to Jack's question.
"How the fuck is W-I-N spelled as N-G-U-Y-E-N? It makes no fucking sense!", he said as he facepalmed and took a deep breath, and pulled out his cell phone. He quickly called the station and asked if they could locate John Wachowski.
"Umm, Sir. JohnWatowski has been missing since yesterday. We got a complaint this morning, and we tried to contact you but you were out of reach", came a reply. He didn't expect something to have happened to John so soon, and immediately asked Steven to gun the car to the station.
Jack began to run multiple scenarios in his head, and the only lead that he had was Nguyen. But first, he wanted to make sure who gave the complaint, and talk with them before proceeding with anything,
The drive which should have taken two hours was completed in an hour and a half, as they had sped the car up and ignored all the speed limits that were imposed. Right after they had reached the station, Jack stormed and saw a woman who was breaking down.
"Please find my husband. I know something must have happened to him", she said and sobbed with her face in between her hands, and Jack knelt right in front of her. He placed his palms on her knees, and she looked at the person who was in front of her.
"We will find your husband, but first, I need details as to what happened before he went missing", he said in a calm voice, which was slightly soothing for the woman who heard it. Steven had an astonished look on his face, and he watched as the woman calmed down and stopped her sobs, nodding her head.
He lead her to his table, where he sat her opposite him and she began to narrate what had happened right before John had left the house.
"We always go grocery shopping once a week, and it's always Tuesday. It became a routine where he would wait for me in the morning, watch me get ready, and then we leave and come back in an hour, or sometimes four if we decided to go to the cinema."
"And as usual, he was watching me get ready, and right after I was ready, he looked outside the window. The look on his face changed the moment he peeked, and I saw some kind of worry on his face."
"And being his wife for almost twenty-three years, I have only seen him worried five times. No matter what happens, he always kept a cool head and came up with a solution as soon as he could. And I will tell you all five times he got worried."
"The first time was when I was giving birth to Miranda. The second was when she lost herself in the park. A good Samaritan had found her and brought her back to us. The third was when I was giving birth to Daniel. The fourth was when I gave birth to Samantha. And this was the fifth time he was worried."
"Seems like he loved you a lot. For him to be worried about you even when giving birth", commented Jack, to get more information on his character. The woman had a light blush and a smile appeared on her face.
"He indeed does. I have dated a lot of men before him, and let me tell you, no man on Earth would come close to the amount of love this man has for me. Well, there is my father who can compete, but he is my father."
"I suggested In Vitro Fertilisation, knowing that he might be scared to put me through the pain of birth. But that day, I understood that he wasn't just a man who loved me, but a man who was kind to everyone."
"My Dear, if I am not willing to put you through that pain, do you think I would wish for the same amount of pain in any other person that's alive? I wouldn't. Either we do this together, or I wait until you are mentally ready to give birth."
"That's the kind of man he is. But I do not know what happened. He asked me to wait a few minutes, telling me he would be back, and it's been seven hours since he went missing. I looked out the window when he left, and he walked towards a black van, and was pulled in forcefully."
"I know what I saw!", she began to sob again, and he watched her cry. He had got the information he needed and confirmed that the three of them who had worked on the project were innocent.
"I will find your husband. Any idea of the number of the van?", he asked with hopes she might have noted it down. She pulled out a handkerchief on which she had scribbled the number in haste, and Jack immediately snatched it and ran off.
