Aida knocked on Cindy's door and waited nervously to be attended to. When Cindy opened the door, she was taken aback because she wasn't expecting Aida.
"Hello there....I wasn't expecting you" Cindy greeted
"Hi" Aida replied.
"Come in" Cindy invited, and witnessed how Aida tensed immediately she invited her in. Before she could say anything, Aida walked in. Aida stood, not far from the door, and scanned the room with her eyes for Theodore. Cindy witnessed how she scanned the room and knew right away, she was looking for Theodore.
"Theodore is out at the moment. Have a seat" Cindy pointing at the two single sofas in the room. Cindy noticed how Aida sighed heavily and relaxed her shoulders after knowing Theodore was out but said nothing.
Cindy was dying to know why her niece was there but kept her cool.
"Water or beverage?" Cindy asked as soon as Aida sat down.
"None for now" Aida said rejecting the offer.
"Alright. Aida, you look just like your mother" Cindy said sweetly as she took a seat next to Aida.
"You think so too?" Aida asked cheerfully.
Cindy smiled widely, patted Aida on the shoulder and said; "It's something even a 'blind' man would see" and they both burst into laughter.
Aida felt relaxed around Cindy, and liked Cindy. Cindy seemed 'cool' and reserved unlike Ciara, yet she liked both.
"Why are you here?" Cindy finally asked, even though she feared it was going to affect Aida's mood.
"I'm here to apologize" Aida said calmly.
"For what?" Cindy asked confused.
"I want to apologize to your husband for acting rudely" Aida replied cautiously.
"Oh! About that?" Cindy asked, finally getting a grasp of why Aida visited.
"Yeah, about that. I feel i have to apologize to him" Aida said
"I doubt you did anything wrong. From my point of view, you were intimidated by his mere presence. Can you keep a secret?" Cindy asked and Aida nodded. "Even I felt intimidated, when I first met him. But when I got to know him, I feel in love with him. He's such a great man! You'd love him. I know you will"
"I hope I do" Aida said almost in a whisper, but Cindy heard her.
Aida's reaction brought back, good old memories. Cindy remembered how she felt scared, yet attracted to Theodore. She remembered how she always had her guard up and effectively on, whenever Theodore was around. She stopped fearing him and began to open her heart to him when she got to know him, his weaknesses and strengths, and even became overly protective of him when she realized he had his equal share of vulnerability.
One thing Cindy was not sure of was, Theodore let her in, on his 'vulnerable' side in order to keep her by his side. Theodore, himself, knew even in his 'vulnerable' state he was dangerous and he tamed his aura to accommodate Cindy in their early days of romance. He didn't want the woman he loved dearly to be afraid of him. But now, she was the only person aside Raven, who could stand his untamed aura. Even when he did everything to appear less scary, he still scared the 'hell out' of people.
Theodore felt the presence of two people, one, he was very familiar with and another one. Before he could turn the knob to make his presence known, he heard a question from the other person that made him pause to listen to the answer that was going to be given, even though he knew the answer very well.
"Do you trust him with your life?"
Cindy was taken aback by the question because she wasn't expecting that question especially from Aida. That question just highlighted the extent of Aida's fear.
"Why do you ask?" Cindy asked forcing a smile.
"I don't think his brawny appearance was what scared me because I have seen brawnier men. But there's something about him, that scares me" Aida replied honestly and shockingly looked at Cindy, realizing how far she's gone.
"You don't have to be scared. My lips are tight tho. You can confine in me. There's nothing to worry about. Can you elaborate on what scares you about him?" Cindy asked.
"Not... nothing mu..much. Just his au..aura" Aida stuttered.
Theodore knew his hunch was right, Aida was no simple girl!
