Chapter 39 - Guilty

The Barbarian Public cheered for their chieftain when he entered the arena and walked into the middle of it. And there was also one more female who joined the candidates.

" I have been years since I have announced this contest of strength and none were able to accomplish what has been accomplished today. As promised the Victor will have the right to choose for themselves." The barbarian chieftain said and gestured to his subordinate to bring Victor to the competition on the stage.

The arena was filled with many people suddenly, Steel spotted the girl he has been protecting on his journey.

" Old man, where were you? What's this commotion about? I don't understand what they are saying." She looked confused.

" Well, the commotion is bound to happen, I finally found my master." Steel was happy, it could be sensed in his voice.

" Really! She is here!" The doctor asked.

" No, she is not here but it's her descendant." Steel said, " Come, let's go, I wanna be by his side from now on."

The girl followed behind Steel, she could see the Barbarians making a huge commotion about something and both of these things were connected to one person. She reached a place where two more humans were standing.

" Oh, the master went to talk," Steel said as he looked at Conan walking towards the chieftain.

-----

" So you are saying you didn't know about the reward properly." An advisor of the chieftain spoke.

" What should we do now my lord?" The chieftain was somewhat in a daze after seeing Conan.

" You remind me of someone young human." The chieftain said.

" The one who freed us of our misery." He continued to speak while looking at Conan to confirm something. " That human I remember him, he was the embodiment of Justice."

" Let's not talk about who I look like, With due respect, I refuse your reward."

" There are some human females here, you can select one as your bride. We will not force a marriage just announce that to save face. If I don't reward you then my pride will be tarnished."

Conan looked towards where Yelena and Ben were,

' I would never, wait who is that?' Conan saw a beautiful girl around the same age as him standing near steel. ' I will just apologise to that girl later.'

" Okay, I select that girl with the white coat."

" Very well. Luca will bring her to us." The chieftain said.

-----

" Ms Lang, our chieftain has called for you. But before that, I must let you know something, the victor has chosen you as his bride." Luca explained.

" Wait What?" The doctor exclaimed. " B-bride?"

" What happened? What did master talk with your chieftain?" Steel asked,

" Chieftain and The Victor are only doing an act, it's not a real marriage," Luca explained, that the other barbarians were not able to understand because he was speaking in human language.

" Why do I have to be the bride?"

" Because you are the only female human here?" Luca said.

" What did he say?" Yelena spoke in an angry voice.

" He is not a human so I guess he is a little confused, Calm down." Ben consoled Yelena after this emotional damage.

" Little girl, please accept this. I will owe you one."

" Fine, if it is just an act then I will play along, but that boy would be the one to owe me, not you. I will talk to him about this."

-----

Aurora lang walked towards the stage where Conan was standing, ' Just who does he think he is?' She was angry at him but knowing this was all an act and a request from someone she respected, she had to do it.

She walked toward Conan and looked at him, ' He is quite...Handsome?' She thought when looking closely.

" I am sorry for this," Conan said as soon as she reached where he was.

" It's alright, it's an act, but you will owe me one." She said. " If it wasn't for Steel's request then I would have never done it."

" Are you his daughter?" He asked.

" No, I was just a girl he saved and had been taking care of, I owe him a lot."

" So he is not a bad guy." Conan looked seriously at her.

" What do you mean a bad guy?"

" Well, I thought he was naturally a bad guy since he was exiled."

" He is the most respectable man," Aurora said.

" Okay, okay, no need to get angry over this." He tried to calm her.

The Barbarian Chief stood up and started to explain the situation. Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and Conan finally felt a little relaxed.

" Boy, you must embrace her." The chieftain said in human language. " That does not look plausible at all."

" There is no ne–" Conan was denying this but suddenly Aurora grabbed him into a hug.

' Why am I doing this?' For some reason, her mind didn't even work near Conan.
