Chapter 1 - Chapter One: That Rebel Kid

It was a pretty hot morning at Wardana High School. At exactly 7 o'clock ago, the opening ceremony of the new school year began. Speaking of the new school year, today the new principal who will lead Wardana High School will be announced. The students were already lined up neatly in the middle of the field.

When the atmosphere was quiet with silence, there was the sound of a noisy motorbike coming into the school parking lot. The thin metal fence that separated the ceremonial grounds and the parking lot allowed everyone to see who was coming with the sound of the motorbike. It was clear that the neon blue dirt bike was coming with a kick up a row, then a girl student was seen casually descending from her bike.

"INGRID FADELIA!" The voice of Mr. Guntur - the counsellor teacher - shouted loudly and echoed throughout the school which made all pairs of eyes now watch what was happening.

Mr. Guntur greeted Ingrid with a shout and a look full of anger. He then grabbed Ingrid's ear and dragged her into the ceremonial grounds.

"Gosh! It hurts, sir! It hurts!" Ingrid's screams echoed down the corridor. Soon, everyone could see Mr. Guntur was pulling Ingrid's ear, while Ingrid was smacking Mr. Guntur's hand.

Mr. Guntur dragged Ingrid into the line beside the teachers, then gave the code to the protocol to continue with the ceremony.

"The ceremony is over, announcement."

The sound of protocol that ended the opening ceremony was followed by Mr. Guntur who went up to the podium.

"Good morning and greetings to the teachers of Wardana High School and dear students. Before we move on to the next special event, allow me to frankly talk a little about the attitude of a student.

What all of you saw earlier is evidence and a concrete example of the attitude of a Wardana High School student that should not be imitated. Late came to school, brought a motorcycle while buzzing the exhaust, and there's no shame in it anymore, am I right, Ingrid Fadelia?"

Mr. Guntur, who mentioned Ingrid's name, succeeded in making all pairs of eyes look at Ingrid who was now standing lazily and crossed her arms in front of her chest. Ingrid just rolled her eyes lazily without giving any answer.

Mr. Guntur continued his lecture which turned out to be not small-frankly-talk before finally moving on to the next event. "Well, next time, allow me to invite a new face to join the Wardana High School family. I respectfully invite Mr. Dirga Dewata to come up to the podium. Please give a big round of applause!"

All the students gave a round of applause. It is true that the news that Wardana High School will change principals has been just a rumor. It is not clear whether it is or not. Bearing in mind, since two years ago there have been several news of the change of the principal, but this has failed to happen.

A man who seems to be still very young with a tall and fit body, wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and black pants-not forgetting the black-silver Wardana high school teacher tie, stepped up to the podium with a flat expression.

"Good morning everyone, allow me to introduce myself first. My name is Dirga Dewata, you can call me Mr. Dirga. Starting today, I will replace Mr. Abraham as the principal of Wardana High School.

I ask for help from all of you to help me in carrying out this responsibility and the success of the Wardana High School programs. Don't hesitate to greet me if you pass each other in the school environment or outside of school. That is all and thank you."

Loud applause closed the self-introduction of Dirga Dewata.

"SIR! HOW OLD ARE YOU, SIR?" a student shouted loudly from behind the line making everyone agree with what she asked.

Dirga chuckled then replied, "A quarter of a century."

Then other random questions were born from the students which made the event never end. Ingrid who was tired and lazy to stand up took this opportunity to escape to the relation officer room. While everyone was not paying attention to her.

Successfully entering the relation officer room, Ingrid breathed a sigh of relief.

"Fyuh, it's better here," said Ingrid as she sat and enjoyed the cold air of the air conditioner that filled the entire room.

"Why are you here? Weren't you in the front row, Grid?" the voice of Astrid, the relation officer teacher, who just came out of the next room that was connected by the connecting door.

Ingrid instead positioned herself stretched out on the sofa. She gave a faint smile as she closed her eyes, "Am tired, Mam. Being the center of attention is tiring."

Hearing Ingrid's answer made Astrid laugh. Astrid let Ingrid sleep on the sofa because since the first grade of high school, Ingrid often ran away to the relation officer room when she was lazy to attend class, it was common knowledge.

Being a student with 'special notes' was not a big problem for Ingrid. Wardana High School also couldn't just drop out because Ingrid had always got to the gold medal at the international sociology olympiad since she was in elementary school. In fact, Ingrid is a loyal member of the Wardana Foundation, from kindergarten to high school she is a part of Wardana. And this year, is Ingrid's last year as a citizen of Wardana-if she graduates-.

"I just want to graduate quickly, as soon as really posibble, Mam," said Ingrid before finally drifting off to sleep.
