“What do you mean, you’re working with Frederic?” I demand, not believing my own ears.
“He wants to help.” Helene insists, rubbing my arms in an attempt to soothe me.
“Helene, he tried to destroy our lives.” I remind her, “he let Arabella try to kill me, he murdered Gabriel and tried to assasinate Bastien, he locked his own mother in a basement and would gladly do the same to me.”
“Yes, he did.” Helene agrees, “you’re right. But he’s also in love with you.”
“Oh please,” I scoff, “He doesn’t even know the meaning of the word.”
