Jason's POV
"Leave!" I growled at them feeling my fangs slip through my gums. But they didn't move an inch, they didn't even twitch, just staying still. I hissed and bared my teeth once more. A low growl escaped from me, serving as a warning when I saw my father stepping forward.
"We just want to help you," He explained in a soft voice. He was calm but the way he moved toward me made it feel like he would be attacking any second.
"Help me?" I questioned, my anger growing with each passing moment that went by.
"Is it the same way you and Gieon tried helping me by the lake?" I snorted at him, not believing his words.
"I know exactly why you are all here, so don't try to play innocent and get smart with me." I pointed at them, glaring at my father.
He sighed heavily, "Please Jason, we just want to help, this doesn't have to end badly, just come back to the house and we can sort all these out." But by the way, he spoke, I could tell he was running low on patience.
"Then what happens to Aurora? I ask, watching as his expression darkened. His hands balled into tight fists.
"She's a threat!" His reply came as immediate as my question, making me chuckle internally. He could never change, he would always think with his gut instead of reasoning. That only served to make me angrier.
"No, she's not a threat!" The woman who stood next to Gieon, covered in all-black attire, argued back, her eyes blazing red.
Taking a long look at her, I noticed that she looked quite familiar. Like I've seen her before.
And judging from the amulet around her neck, carved in the form of a deer, with an amber light emitting from it, I knew she was a witch and also belonged to the same coven as Aurora.
She had a winter-white hair that gently tumbled over her shoulders, her dark hazel eyes boring into my father's as he looked at her confused," What do you mean she's not a threat?" He asked, looking over his shoulder towards her.
"Because she has no evil intention!" She exclaimed.
"She's one of the rebels and the main reason why we all are present here.
I mean, remember if she hadn't broken through the barrier you and I won't be here." Her statement only made my father deepen the frown on his face as he seemed to be more confused about where she was heading with her words.
"What are you even saying? I thought the reason why you looked surprised when Gieon told you who she was, was because you also knew she was dangerous and a threat to Jason!" He demanded, with an obviously confused look all over his face.
The witch sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose as if the conversation was too tiresome for her to deal with right now. "No, that wasn't the reason why I was surprised or shocked."
"So how could you possibly know if she is a threat or not?" He inquired further.
"Gosh!, I could have explained all these to you if only you had the patience to listen to any other thing aside from finding Jason."
She groaned, her frustration evident.
As if my father was being unreasonable or stupid about whatever was happening.
Removing her gaze from him, she let out another sigh before turning to me and whispering," Listen to me, okay? No one will...."
"Enough!"
I snapped, cutting her off, causing her to immediately flinch at my outburst.
"I don't give a damn about what any of you have to say. All I want is for each one of you to leave this place before I do something extreme." I hissed angrily, staring at them.
"It's okay Jason, I understand how you are just being protective of Aurora but we are not here to fight you. We just won't...." Gieon finally spoke in an attempt to calm me down but he couldn't continue as I interrupted him.
"You don't understand anything at all!
All these.....," I sigh before continuing, " all these are way more than just being protective of her and if anyone here has anything to gain from killing or hurting Aurora then go ahead!" My breathing started to speed up the more I talked,
"Go ahead and try it, but don't expect me to sit here and watch while you hurt her because I won't." With that, my body started trembling, my heart racing faster and faster with every passing second.
With wide eyes and slight gasps, everyone stared at me in shock and confusion. I didn't care though, I was tired of being treated like nothing more than some weak little kid that needed saving all the time. I wanted a life free of people constantly trying to protect me from danger, I didn't need to be protected, I'm an adult.
I wasn't weak nor was I helpless, I wasn't useless. In fact, I will do fine without them, without their pointless protection.
"Jason...just trust us..and I swear on your late mother, my best friend, none of us will do anything to hurt Aurora." The witch spoke softly. She sounded sincere, but could I risk it?
"Trust you? "Why should I trust you?" I questioned, narrowing my eyes at her, but there was something I couldn't ignore, something deep inside of me, something that urged me to trust her words.
It was like my wolf was yelling at me to listen to her, telling me that I shouldn't worry because she wasn't lying to me, and she was telling the truth.
But still, I kept my guard up.
There was too much uncertainty here and I don't want any harm getting to Aurora if I could avoid it.
"Just please, give me a chance and I'll explain everything as soon as you return to the house with us." She insisted, placing her hand over her heart.
Looking between her and Gieon, I hesitated, thinking about the consequences. But after seeing the sincerity in her eyes, I knew it was the right decision.
I slowly nodded, allowing myself to relax my stance slightly. My fangs slipped back into my mouth and I could see relieved smiles crossed over both their faces except my father who held a stoic expression that showed he wasn't pleased with all but chose to remain quiet, for now at least.
I smiled, breathing in more of the intoxicating scent that had been swirling around my nostril all along."You can stop hiding now Aurora." I called, knowing full well that she could hear me.
