Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen

Jason's Pov

"She's something! She's my mate!" I yelled at my father, who looked up in shock, his eyes widening when he realized what was said.

"What do you mean she is your mate?" He

asked, his tone of voice making it clear that he didn't want me to answer the question.

I scoffed at him, rolling my eyes before speaking, "You know exactly what I mean, so don't try to act like you don't understand what I said just now." I said angrily.

"And as for someone who claims to be my father, an Alpha warrior, you should have sensed it already!" I snapped.

"Or why else do you think I would care so much about her, huh? Why exactly do you think I almost attacked all of you back in the forest?

It was all because I was protecting her from you guys and honestly, if it weren't for her...." I paused, pointing at Nina who sat still on the couch, watching the whole scene unfold before her very eyes."...Do you think I wouldn't have done it?" I ask, looking him dead in the eye with anger in mine.

"Did you really think I wouldn't mind hurting you just to defend and protect her?"

I scoffed at him again," Actually, I don't even expect you to understand me or understand how I feel. You're only obsessed with controlling me. You want to control how I think, what I do, who I relate with, and how I should live my life. That's all that matters to you and all you care about." I said bitterly with anger thrumming through my veins.

"Jason..." Gieon called out my name trying to calm the series of emotions flowing through my veins as I spoke.

But Nina interrupted him, making a gesture with her hand to signal him to stop in his sentence."Don't Gieon, let him speak"

"ugh…." I continued,".... All you care about is your own agenda and not how it affects me.

So, don't even try and pretend as if you care about me, acting like an overprotective father. You believe everyone close to me is a threat to my life but then you could leave me here five years ago without ever informing me or getting across to me afterward!"

I watch as my Dad looks down in shame, clearly not expecting my outburst.

"You thought you could just decide to take a stroll out of my life and suddenly walk back in then try to control me as you did before right?"  I snarled, glaring at him.

He looked taken aback by what I said, hurt flashing through his eyes, but he soon hid them under anger immediately.

I sighed, breathing in some air before I continued. I wasn't done pouring out every frustration and anger I felt within me.

My talking wasn't just about Aurora, it was about every single thing I've ever wanted to say to him, and now that I have the chance, I'll make sure I don't hold anything back.

"You know at first I didn't even know why I felt attracted and drawn towards her until after you attacked us at the lake.

And It's quite irritating that even though you heard all that she said before that, you never thought to think before acting on your impulse."

You just do things without thinking about  how it will affect others." I said to him before he finally got the courage to speak.

"Jason, all I do is for you, you and your safety alone. I..." His voice dropped lower, a hint of regret evident in his tone of voice.

" You left when it mattered most," I said, in a bid to remind him of what he did.

"..all I do, I do it because I love you son."He said and I took a step closer, lowering my head so I could meet his gaze, but he remained unmoving.

I could feel my anger rise further in me, or was it my wolf's as I shouted, "No you don't! You never did! You never think about how your actions and inactions could change people. How it could change me!"

"Jason-" He tried once more, but I ignored him.

"Stop your act! I sneered

"But I guess that's fine cause It doesn't affect me anymore, I don't care.

From now on I will make my own decisions. Starting with keeping Aurora as my mate whether or not you like the idea and before I forget, she knows what I am, I told her myself.

So there's no point keeping it a secret amongst yourselves." I coldly swept a glance at Gieon whose face didn't show any form of shock, I turned to Nina. Her eyes looked glassy and her face slightly pale from what had just happened.

"I'm sorry, I really don't mean to be rude to you, but I have to leave cause I can't stand being here with him right now," I say, to her, not bothering to wait for a reply as I turn to my father, releasing the final blow," I might not be the best son to have but Dad,.....

….you don't deserve the title of a father." I added coldly before turning and walking out of the living room.

"Jason." I heard Gieon call out to me, but I paid no attention and continued going upstairs.

As I entered my room I shut the door, locking it behind me and leaning against it while sliding down into a sitting position.

I closed my eyes and leaned my forehead against the wooden door.

What the heck did I just do?!

When I opened my eyes again I was greeted by the beautiful presence of my mate staring at me.

I immediately pulled my arms behind my back as I saw her walking towards me slowly, her hands clasped together nervously in front of her.

The moment she stood directly in front of me I stood, my posture straightening as I looked her straight in the eye, waiting for her to open her mouth.

"Is everything ok Jason, you look upset" she asked, concern written all over her sleepy face.

"It's nothing you need to worry about, okay?" I mumbled, staring straight ahead.

"But Jason I heard..." She trailed off, taking a step forward.

"It's fine," I said quietly, stopping her progress before she could reach me.

I looked away, avoiding eye contact with her.

I know I should tell her about what happened, but I didn't want to make her feel like she was coming in between father and son or anything.

"Are you sure?" She asked, placing her hands on my forearm gently, causing me to glance down at her touch, which caused a small smile to creep onto my lips.

"Well, it depends on if you're willing to hug me," I replied, and without waiting for her response, I moved my arm to wrap around her shoulders, pulling her to me before wrapping my other arm tightly around her waist and resting my chin on top of her head.

As I felt her body tense slightly at the sudden closeness, slowly she relaxed completely in my arms before I heard her speak again, "Whenever you're ready to talk, you know I'll be here waiting to listen to you, right?" She said softly, her voice low and soothing, causing a smile to appear on my face.

"Yeah, I know." I simply said, enjoying how relaxing it felt to have her in my arms.
