"You can't be serious, right?" Gilbert asked in a slightly trembling voice.
"We have to come up with a plan now," Felix replied then went back inside.
Gilbert was left alone, confused by what Felix had just said. He re-entered to meet Holly as if the conversation had never existed.
When Gilbert returned, he found Holly weeping against the edge of the bed.
"I guess I'd better go."
Bowing his head, Gilbert stepped back. Holly had been pacified by Felix. His presence there was of no use.
Gilbert came back out. There was no one there, only a few maids who occasionally passed by to clean the furniture.
Gilbert sat on the porch alone with his arms crossed. He felt useless lately. First, he couldn't tell if Frada was Millard's spy even though he had suspected her for a long time. Second, he couldn't help Holly.
"Why are you daydreaming on an afternoon like this?"
Gilbert raised his head. He gaped at who had come to meet him.
