"Smell? What do you mean?" Gilbert reflexively pushed Holly away from him.
But Holly drew closer to him. She pressed her nose to his shirt and sniffed like a cat. "I smell a very fragrant flower."
Gilbert cleared his throat. He lifted his face so that they were not close together. He hoped Holly didn't hear his very loud heartbeat.
"Maybe you're wrong. I haven't washed myself yet," Gilbert said nervously.
"Is that true? Then why do you smell so good?"
Gilbert stepped back before Holly sniffed him again. His eyes looked around him and found a pile of dry-washed clothes. Gilbert quickly grabbed it and showed the shirt to Holly.
"This shirt. That smell comes from this shirt. They wash it with flowers."
Holly approached Gilbert to take the flower. She wanted to prove to herself that the smell was coming from the clothes. But Holly immediately put the shirt back in the basket before Holly smelled it.
